I see there are youtube links for Vonn's run but they all redirect to other sites and I have no idea if they are safe to click or not.

What, you mean they should make this stuff just available online on demand? without excessive commentary? Every moment of it?... like they did in Beijing?!? Insane!
If they did that, then rather than sit back on the comfortable couch with a beer to enjoy the olympics coverage in glorious HDTV, EVERYONE in America would clearly choose instead to sit at their computer chair and watch the footage in their computer monitor.
Then you will not watch the advertisements from the hardworking sponsers who make this all possible in exchange for the opportunity to humbly pitch you their product.
We cant have that, so we have to shut down the internet for a day. Except sports no one in the USA cares about like curling and hockey. Whats that you say? You'd like to watch all the competition for any sports from beginning to end, including all training and qualification runs from every foreign athlete? What, are you stupid? Everyone in this country only cares about their athletes and the few most powerful evil outsiders who may steal the medal away, and even then only a few clips of action sandwiched between montages with announcers yammering on and on drowning out the sounds and conversations that might be going on at the event.
