Retread QBs and paying out the ass for free agents is the Andy Reid way since McNabb left.

Nothing makes these experience happy on the board. If they got revis they would find fault with it.

An interesting note on Carr - he recently restructured about $12.5 million of his salary into a signing bonus that will be pro-rated into the remainder of his deal.

This is interesting primarily because it makes it that much more difficult for the Cowboys to cut him now. When we looked at his deal, it had the looks of a 3 year deal with numbers at the back end he probably won't get. With this restructure, to unload him after 2 years would accelerate an additional $6 million in dead money onto the cap in 2015 over what it already would have count towards.

In other words, it looks pretty damn likely that Brandon Carr might actually play out that entire deal at $10 million/season.

Is he worth that? I'm not so sure.

It's not a good hands/bad hands binary.

You act as though catching a ball doesn't also involve concentration.
Bowe has good hands, but he has bad habits that contribute to his drops.

Same is true of Smith.
Sean Smith will make an extraordinary interception from time-to-time.
Because he has GOOD HANDS. He struggles with consistent concentration and focus when he tries to bring a ball in.

And there's more to being a good corner than picking passes off anyway.

I'll answer for you since you dodged my question.
Brandon Carr had 6 INT's through his first 56 starts (1 more than Smith at the same stage).
Dallas should cut him now, right?

He hasn't made 1 extraordinary INT that has counted in his professional career.

And there's definitely more to a Corner than picking off passes, or Deangelo Hall would be the highest paid corner in the NFL, but Sean Smith is 6'3 and gets his hands on the ball, he just doesn't come down with them. And when you're leading the league in passes thrown your way you need to come down with more than just 5 INTs in your career.

It doesn't seem that 1 single contract has been expensive except Bowe's.

They especially overpaid for one who wasn't really that good last year.

No, this is not the tactic he used 2 years ago with the Eagles. He spent huge amounts of money on Nnamdi.

I'm sorry, I don't consider a basic one year deal for Robinson and a 3 year deal for Smith to be huge deals.

This is a 2-14 team, and the talent that we have isn't going to be young forever. Fill the holes with good free agents, and fix the rest in the draft.

I can't for the life of me understand the people crying about these moves.

They really didn't at first; his first 3 seasons weren't much more onerous than Routt's; they could've escaped after 3 years and been out around $21 million.

But now, if they want to do that, they're going to take one hell of a shot in dead money. They may well have to eat it.

Shortsighted restructure, IMO.

so they can run their mouths all they want their starting CB is nolan ****ing carroll and the LBs they overpaid for still dont hold a candle to ours

Their secondary is probably better with Smith gone...

Expensive and overpriced are discrete entities.

The Dolphins used Smith off the LOS last year. They played against his strengths and shocking that he wasn't great.

GoChiefs forms his opinions from others opinions. That's what happens when you're 30 and still living at home. You can't think for your god damn self.

The only moves I'm meh on is Alex Smith and DeVito.

We'll just have to disagree here. Carr is a fine cb. I would have loved to keep him
