What's the value in 2nd round picks? The chances of actually drafting anyone worth playing seems extremely low from my very limited knowledge of nba draft.

They are more like lottery tickets but you can still get players in the 2nd. Usually more developmental projects but occasionally can hit. High 2nd rounders can also have more use vs. a very late 1st due to contract flexibility.
