I just looked at his PFR page for the first time and that's less than exciting.

2015 - Inactive his entire rookie season.
2016 - Missed 3 games
2017 - Missed 11 games
2018 - Missed 7 games
2019-2021 - healthy with one pro bowl
2022 - Missed 9 games
2023 - Missed final 2 games with most recent knee injury
2024 - Missed 11 games so far

Why are we so excited about this guy? He's missed games for knee injuries and in 2022 he missed over half the season because of a back injury. Also found this on Wikipedia and I know Bruce Arians is a jack ass, but damn.

"Throughout his rookie training camp and in the preseason, Humphries displayed revolting play in practice and preseason. Head coach Bruce Arians nicknamed him "knee-deep", explaining that you need to keep "A knee in his ass every day" to keep him motivated"

I'm finding any excitement to be dissipating.

So you're one of those "Wikipedia isn't reliable" people? I'd tell you to look into it a little bit, because it is definitely reliable.

Are you refuting this claim? If so here's an article from The Athletic that says the same thing.

https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/135...shared-article

"Arians, you might recall, not-so-fondly gave Humphries the nickname “knee-deep” in 2015 because he said a foot up Humphries’ rear end wasn’t enough to motivate the left tackle, who was the Cardinals’ first-round draft choice that year."

Humphries hates Arians and this is enough to make me love Humphries.

https://www.abc15.com/sports/d-j-hum...ckname-for-him

"When asked if he thought the nickname was a form of bullying, Humphries said no. He said he considered it a power move by someone who wasn’t on the same level as him within the organization.

“When you’re on a different level where you can’t look me in my eye, that’s a whole different conversation,” Humphries said.

Humphries admits to not performing well during his rookie season, but says he was also not coached well.

“It wouldn’t have been that tough if I were learning something new to process. If I was learning while being treated that way there’s a difference,” Humphries said. “It’s not like it was a nudge in the right direction. It just made me want to punch you in the face instead of taking coaching from you.”

Humphries said he never asked for or looked for an apology from Arians.

“He meant what he said. It wasn’t an accident. You apologize for accidents. If I stepped on your shoe right now I’d apologize.”

When asked if he had extra motivation for this weekends matchup against Arians and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Humphries' answer was simple.

“No, because he doesn’t play football.”

Don’t look up his injury history. It ain’t pretty. Then put it with him wanting a BIG payday. In my best Jedi voice….waves a hand….. This is not the long term LT you are looking for.

Edit:I see that diphg9 already documented his injury history.

North of 30 with a big injury history. No way, he’s a rental to make it through til (hopefully) the SB.

No one is gonna give him that due to 8 good games tho.

I brought it up, too. I also said that we only need him for 9-10 games.

Have you looked at the Arizona Cardinals records over those years? I wouldn't exactly be rushing to get out of the training room those years either.

2015 - 13-3
2016 - 7-8-1
2017 - 8-8
2018 - 3-13
2019 - 5-10-1
2020 - 8-8
2021 - 11-6
2022 - 4-13
2023 - 4-13

I don't know, I see 2 injuries in the last 5 years. I wouldn't call that injury prone.

I like this guy!

He’s a big ****ing dude. Bob Villa did good signing him up.

Lol he only has 3 full seasons in his 9 seasons where he didn't miss games because of a significant injury. That pretty much screams to me injury prone and a massive broke dick. He's had multiple knee injuries, a hamstring issue and a back injury. The back injury in 2022 was pretty significant and caused him to miss 9 games. I know one thing offensive tackle and back injury seems to be a pretty shitty combination.

Big dude that missed the final 9 games in 2022, because he had a back injury.

I think he can hold up the rest of the season, but signing this guy long term would be pretty risky.

He's the one that signed an extension with them. No one forced him to stay with the Cardinals for those final years. I'm not saying he half assed it or didn't hit the weight room, but if he didn't than that would be a major red flag and not really someone I would trust all that much. Plenty of guys play on really shitty teams and work their asses off.

I was addressing those who think we have found our LT for the next decade.

A Big-time money contract and injury history will shoot down him signing long term. Some team will get him the money. We dont have cap space, even with Veachs cap magic. But, we can certainty use his talents this year.
