Eh, if Alex drives a couple TD drives early then you can put in Foles. It's all dependent upon the flow of the game. Like last week. Didn't he say they'd play the first quarter? They went down and scored an easy TD and that was it for them.

FYI this game is on 10pm Eastern time Saturday night on NFLN

Guys like Smith need practice. He's not a top tier QB, if he wants to get better he needs to stay in. Work on his chemistry with Conley and just practice the deep ball. What's it going hurt? If Smith goes down, Foles will be just as good. I'm not not knocking Smith, but there's stuff in "practice" that's he's working on. Why not work on it when preseason is more competitive than a practice.

Alex smith is entering his 10th season as a starter.... I don't think an extra quarter of preseason is gonna do jack shit.

So much fail.

You think the chemistry with Smith/Conley is going to put this offense over the top? :shake: FFS.

Keeping Smith in a groove and as healthy as possible with limited reps in pre-season is goal #1.

Year 4 in this offense, and almost a lifer in the WCO at the pro level. Smith running this offense is the least of the Chiefs worries.

Your act is tired..change up. SuperBowls are cool..but what if KC wins one? Then you have no online personality left....KC winning a SB wont change anything. You will be the same .....

Things are certainly looking up when the biggest arguments are about a TC holdout, are we playing the starters too much or not enough in the preseason, getting guys injured back & when, who's battling whom for a backup spot or getting cut, and the much cherished personal sniping between CP regulars.

Good times!

Have we discussed how big Andy is yet, or just how much he likes bbq?

The 3rd game, the starters will play somewhere around 2 1/2 quarters. It's like this every season.

Exactly. I am not sure why this is an issue all of a sudden on CP. If the Offense has a couple of nice drives for scores-Andy will start pulling the starters. It is not like we installed a brand new system. It will be a good test against that Lambs defense.

This TC does seem to have a different feel to it. Much less stress for some reason. At least on my end.

I never said we'd be over the top. We haven't seen anything from Conley yet. It would be nice to see those two get in a rhythm. I'm more concerned about Conley not performing. Just want to see some spark from him for once.

All I want to see is Conley getting more action with Smith as the QB. Not sure why everyone is making this a big deal. Sorry for wanting more out of a couple players. We don't always have to settle for mediocrity ya know.

Is Smith that good that he doesn't need to play an entire first half? This is where the argument started. I think Smith and Conley should play the 1st half. It doesn't hurt one bit.

threebag 08-19-2016 12:28 PM

Maybe the question isn't "Is Smith this good" (we know he is). Maybe the depth needs the time to seperate themselves also.

We should be a win now mode since we're keeping Smith. I don't think we should worry about what Murray can provide. This is Smiths team as long as he's on this roster and I truly believe playing 2 quarters in the preseason won't kill him.

Heard from a friend that the first Rams pre-season game was super-gang-bangery (and he's not a PB who's terrified of any black person). Stay safe out there any Chiefs fans. Also keep your wits about you leaving the stadium. The Coliseum is not in a good neighborhood.

I heard today that if the Packers actually lost Rodgers for more than the rest of a game, they'd go out and sign a veteran to start because they don't trust their backups to start as much as a single football game.

Seems like Murray might be a worthwhile addition for them if he can continue to show well in the pre-season.

Yeah, I heard the same. I'm not too worried, though. Alcohol accounts for 99.9% of the crap that goes on, and I'm pretty good at reading people. Of course anything can happen, but I plan on representing the Chiefs in a respectful, preseason-ish way.

DaneMcCloud 08-19-2016 03:48 PM

I hope the Chiefs trade as many players as possible as opposed to losing them on the waiver wire.

Although if no one made a decent offer for Knile Davis or Darren Reaves, I wouldn't trade either to the Patriots. I'd rather see another team with priority pick them up.

we need to get any possible trade guys out there and display them in the best situation we can. Raise their trade value some.

I don't know if any of them are worth much but it's worth a shot

Strange, as I haven't heard a peep. There was reportedly a strong police presence and while there were three arrests, they were altercations inside the stadium between Rams and Cowboys fans.

Right, I had heard about that and a few other anecdotes from people who were outside there. I think it has more to do with the neighborhood than anything.

But in my experience, it's alcohol that drives it as well as people with thin skin who don't know how to handle themselves. I don't drink and I can read people. I'm on the 50 yard line, 40 rows up. PUMPED up! Or at least as much as one can for a preseason game.

I've never understood the correlation between watching a football game and drinking alcohol, especially excessively.

I enjoy a beer and a Dodger dog when I'm at the stadium but that's just because of the experience, not because I want to drink myself silly.

Have fun tomorrow night! I had several free tickets tossed my way but we're having a huge birthday party for my 4 year old and I'll be wiped before game time.

I know I've went on this rant before, but the fans at GB are over-rated. Yeah, they're friendly...but they're pretty dull as well. I went for the Pack-Bears Christmas night game back in 2011. The pack was still playing for HFA in the playoffs, and the crowd could barely be bothered to get into the game. It may have had something to do with the extreme weather, but they were barely cheering. No standing up, and very little enthusiasm. I was disappointed.

Edit: Even my buddy, who is a Pack fan, said the experience at Arrowhead the week before was much better.

Me neither, and I certainly wouldn't blow it on a suite out of pocket. A good buddy of mine growing up has one, but I have little doubt it written off as a business expense.

They're fun in their own unique way, but I can be just as entertained sitting top level with a section of die hards that may not have bank but their yearly splurge is attending Chiefs home games. Ideally, field level 15 - 20 rows back, but I got spoiled in law school. My girlfriend's family at the time had season tickets on the Chiefs sideline at the 45 yard line, 2nd row. Went to 95% of the games over 3 seasons, including the year they started 9-0.

Yep. And my buddy said he still enjoyed the atmosphere at Arrowhead better.

It's like the old saying goes: If you can't spot the fish at the poker table, it's probably you.

Don't be the fish. Become the donkey.

Wonderful article on Chris Jones. CANNOT wait to see him play against the big boys. He will own Phyliss rivers.

Defenses are so vanilla in the pre-season and such the "set-up" for new QBs. Yes he performed when given the opportunities these last 2 games but let's see what happens when he truly goes into combat.;)

It's usually not so bad unless it's a Raiders game. I'm not just saying this because I hate the Raiders but there fans act like trash. I wouldn't take my kid to a raiders game.

If we lose 24-0 and yet Dee Ford mimics DT tonight against the 1st team Offense we have still won:D. It's the only thing I want to see tonight is this guy finally "get it". Not holding my breath though.

Oh and I want to see Foles and Murray do more surgery as well. Foles can play and competition will either push Alex to the next level or create a Gannon vs Grbac again, uh?:) Nothing against Smith at all and something tells he will take it to the next level but I wouldn't be surprised if it went the other way as well.

We are in good hands at the QB spot.

I enjoy a beer and a Dodger dog when I'm at the stadium but that's just because of the experience, not because I want to drink myself silly.

Have fun tomorrow night! I had several free tickets tossed my way but we're having a huge birthday party for my 4 year old and I'll be wiped before game time.

happy birthday son-of-a-dane!! :toast:

Probably 95% of the Faider fans I have been around over the decades of games were pretty cool. They had their ghey Darth Vader shit on and had a great time. The other 5% were thugs looking for trouble. They were there to run their mouth. Could not even count how many fights I have seen in and out of the stadium.

I think in-house arrests goes up something like 300% during home Fader games. One game I went to in the nineties had so many fights and arrest-KC ran out of transport vehicles.

Personally, I only had one close call-a Fader dirt bag was drunk and cussing up a storm in front of a family with 2 young kids. He was directly behind us and I quickly had enough. The game had not even started. I turned around and politely told him if he drops another F bomb in front of those kids I was going to throw his ass down the stairs. He shut up. Towards the end of the first quarter he got into it with security when he spilled a tray of beer over the railing. I guess he thought it was a good idea to try and fight his way out-lol They pounded him like a cube steak. I don't think his one quarter of the Arrowhead experience was worth the cost of plane tickets from Oakland.

I am looking forward to seeing how our O-line holds up against the Lambs D-line. They have a few studs that could really cause some damage. It will be a great test for them. I am sure Milkman will be watching these battles close and will give us a good summary,

I want to see someone step up and claim that 2nd CB spot across from Peters. As well as see consistent pressure on Goff by our defense.

Really excited to see if Jones has another dominating game and would like to see Hill flash some of that speed that people were gushing at during camp.
