Imagine Arrowhead on Sundays and Monday nights if Manning is under center.

Report: San Francisco 49ers Not Interested In Peyton Manning
Alex Smith, Jerry Rice, NFL, Peyton Manning, San Francisco 49ers | Comments

Despite the urging of the former star wide receiver Jerry Rice, the San Francisco 49ers will not attempt to sign quarterback Peyton Manning, according to NFL.com.

The 49ers, instead, are intent on re-signing Alex Smith. A contract for Smith has already been placed on the table by San Francisco, sources have told NFL.com. Smith has the same agent as Manning, Tom Condon.

Rice had told the Marin Independent Journal that if Manning were available, the 49ers should attempt to sign him.

“I think you go for it,” Rice told the Paper. “A guy of that talent, you’ve got everything in place. You’ve got a defense that smacks you in the mouth. You just need a little more out of the offense. That’s not knocking what Alex (Smith) did. (Manning) can take you to a whole different level.”

Smith was selected by the 49ers with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2005 NFL draft, but until the 2011 season he had generally been considered a disappointment. Last year, under the tutelage of new 49ers head coach Jim Harbaugh, Smith had the best year of his career. In 16 games he completed 61.3 percent of his passes, threw for 3,144 yards, and collected 17 passing touchdowns

I really don't see him going to The Broncos.

Manning is repped by CAA. Wouldn't expect him to land anywhere with an in-place QB also repped by CAA. Includes SF, KC, JAX, DEN, OAK, BUF.

That's a ridiculous supposition...

imagine the first time Bowe/Baldwin ran the wrong route on 3rd down and just short of shrugged and smiled as the walked over to the sideline.

Manning would explode

i'm so sick of that shit

I'm not sure Barry Richardson would survive the preseason with his dumbass shit.

Problem is, I don't think Pioli wants Manning that bad. I think he's ok with rolling Matt Cassel out there.

Chiefs emerging as perfect fit for Peyton
The two front-runners are Miami and Arizona. The Jets will get some run, as well. But, like my colleague Elliot Harrison recently wrote, I have a feeling that Kansas City is the team that can give him everything he desires. He's a Midwest guy. He doesn't want to be overcome by media. He wants to play against teams he knows, and he wants a path to winning.

No one is poised to run away with the AFC West. San Diego has won by default for the most part lately. Add Manning to a K.C. team with Dwayne Bowe, Steve Breaston, Dexter McCluster, a healthy Tony Moeaki and a healthy Jamaal Charles? That would look a lot like the makeup of the Colts' offense in their heyday. K.C.'s defense is better than people think. Romeo Crennel has already said the Chiefs are interested.

I think Manning wants his life to most closely resemble what it was in Indianapolis. I'm sure Joe Montana is on the phone with him right now telling him what it was like to play in K.C. after getting pushed out of San Francisco. Sound familiar?

I hope to ALL THAT IS HOLY that he is on the phone with Joe Montana ASAP.

This town LOVED Joe, even though he was only here for a few games.

I think they might all need a total d!ck who expects perfection and has the accomplished record (unlike Haley) to demand it...

The Denver Post suggests the Broncos would "have to be interested" if the Cardinals released Kevin Kolb in favor of pursuing Peyton Manning.
The Post doesn't believe the Broncos will pay attention to Manning in free agency, but Kolb could be a veteran option to push Tim Tebow. While the Broncos aren't quite "all-in" on Tebow, they think enough of his game-winning ability to not pursue an immediate, short-term replacement. Kolb would be a training camp competitor and candidate to take over if Tebow struggled early.

Could we be so lucky for Denver to continue the shit factory they've got going at QB?

both pretty lame reasons imo

Is Arizona really going to switch from Kolb already?

Miami and Kansas City should be the legit leaders

Kolb isn't nearly as good as AZ needs him to be and now they have Skelton who could potentially be better. Kolb is due a $7M bonus on 3/17 as well...
