The problem is, they’re clearly committed to playing Jones outside for a significant amount of snaps (early downs), so Houston would likely not even be starting. I just don’t see it.

We are talking about a Spags defense though. He loves those NASCAR packages with 4 DE’s on the field. We just haven’t had the personnel to do that.

We might have “starters”, but I think we could expect a ton of rotation with fairly equal snap counts to keep guys fresh.

Gotta keep in mind that this is now a 17 game season. With guys like Taco and Okafor who have significant injury histories, you can never have too many bodies. Houston might also welcome a lighter workload to just go get sacks at his age.

Oh, I don’t doubt that Spags could still use him and would love to have him.

I just don’t believe that Houston would want to come off the bench.

I think he might if he really wants a ring. Another added situation is the Frank Clark situation as we don't know what the outcome will be for that as well.

And if he's cool with being a bench/rotation player, it would probably be good for his body, as he's getting older.
