I want to see someone step up and claim that 2nd CB spot across from Peters. As well as see consistent pressure on Goff by our defense.

Really excited to see if Jones has another dominating game and would like to see Hill flash some of that speed that people were gushing at during camp.

I think our O-line holds up well. Jones will rule again, I love this kid's enthusiasm and his motor and I don't think he realizes just how good he can be. The CB position will still be up in the air until Gaines comes back but all our CBs tonight will play so well it will make it very difficult for Reid who to start opening day which is a good problem to have. I'm calling it tonight that Hill returns for a TD!!:thumb:

With that speed and long arms-he reminds me of a young Neil Smith. Many on here hate Neil since he went to the Donks-but I got the pleasure of watching every single Chiefs home game he ever played in-and he had some amazing years. Jones should learn a lot from our vets and I agree-love his attitude!

Agree with your comparison and it this point Jones is stronger than Neil however Neil was a tad quicker but maybe Jones will get quicker over time. How can anyone hate Neil Smith:rolleyes: It's a business and you must take care of yourself. Lucky you man !!!

That is awesome, IF Jones can consistently get the jump on his counter part across the line-it will be such a huge advantage. He has the speed to slide past them before they can set their feet and block- we also saw the highlight of that great slap move-where he judo chops the guy out of the way ala Reggie White. Jones also has the power to Bull Rush his guy into the backfield, jamming running lanes-as we saw on that key 4th down stop last week.

Can't wait to see what he does this week. :)

Have fun in Oakland Sean!

SB Nation NFL @ SBNationNFL-Sean Smith says the Raiders lost because the team lacked “effort and enthusiasm.”

But it’s preseason so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Just sayin...

Murray had his shot.

He literally fumbled it away.

Reid's post-game remarks and general tone was one of obvious frustration. I think Murray may have played himself right off the team last weekend.

Bray will get his shot this week and if he can show anything at all, I expect he'll displace Murray. And if he looks as shitty as he looked in week 1 (arguably worse than Murray looked in Week 2), Reid may just flip a goddamn coin at that point.

They're pretty clearly sitting on Hogan in the hopes of getting him to the PS. He was never a consideration to play last week at all and doesn't appear to be getting any reps during practice.

I'd be shocked if he's on the roster.

Not sure whether I'm pleased as punch or scared as f that Tamba and Charles aren't wearing any kind of knee braces at practice today.

Kinda have to as you age.

He could either lose weight or lose quickness. Losing a little probably won't hurt him while hand-fighting but losing a little quickness surely would. And with his knees, it's an even better idea.

Leaning out a little, even at the cost of some muscle, would be a good idea for Tamba at this point.

I was just giving him shit... I like the Ol' Stay Puft Marshmallow Homer. What does any of that have to do with 5 starters being out?

It's completely reasonable to think we'll get it together when most of the starters are back.

I hope they get it together with those guys back. But, those guys consist of a safety that hasn't had a padded practice yet, a corner coming back from a torn acl that's had half of a good season as a rookie, and a pass rusher with bulky knees.

There's alot that could go wrong therr

You know there's a middle ground here right? I don't think anybody is expecting the defense to be great right off the bat, nor do they need to be. The offense should hit the ground running, and early on just respectable from the defense should do.

Nobody is saying there aren't question marks, but come on we're talking about Berry/Hali/Gaines/Mauga vs. White/Zombo/Murray/Wilson/March. It's pretty obvious we won't be nearly as bad as we have been in the preseason with the proven vets that have played in the system and together.

Pasta Little Brioni 08-23-2016 06:44 PM

Can they survive and compete for the AFC without Houston? Sure

Can they with 4 other starters out? No, but neither could any team in the league.

RunKC 08-23-2016 06:45 PM

the DL is loaded IMO. I think we'd be fine with Gaines if Houston wasn't hurt but Houston is like 30% of our defense.

Dorsey drafted Ford and Gaines bc he knew we'd need them at some point. Time to see how they do. They are really out season if you look big picture.

It's not pretty obvious, like has been said here, because there's just so much unknown and or things that could go either way.
They can't afford to get behind the 8 ball again like last year, they need to get off to a good start.

They can get off to a slow ish start, win 9 or 10 maybe slip into a wildcard spot.

But selfishly, I wanna see both sides of the ball really click and them to run off to a 12 or more win season.

Pasta Little Brioni 08-23-2016 06:47 PM

They're not competing foe the afc title and a trip to the superbowl with their best defensive player out. They may be able to survive half the year without him, but they're not a contender without houston.

I think it's funny that the guy that harps on inexperience issues doesn't see any difference between a buncha rookies and second year players (2 of which were playing new positions), and a few proven vets, some of which are former Pro Bowlers.

I love the young talent on D, but it no way would I expect this D to be the same with March, White, Murray, and Zombo out there instead of those guys week 1.
