What the hell would you not do this for?

He has an extra 2nd round pick because he decided to trade away his best CB. If he doesn’t use that pick to help out the secondary....then people are going to think he’s a moron.

I agree with you but some GM's literally think draft picks are more valuable than anything, **** NE traded Chandler Jones for a 2, is there anyone here that wouldn't trade a 2 for Chandler Jones?

Mother****erJones 09-30-2018 08:57 AM

Trade the Rams pick. Basically swap Marcus Peters for Earl Thomas

I already am. Thomas should be on this team right now.

The Franchise 09-30-2018 08:57 AM

If he doesn’t trade that 2nd and then proceeds to draft a bunch of project players....then Veach can go **** himself.

RunKC 09-30-2018 08:57 AM

Veach is trying to see if he can get a bargain as it gets closer to the trade deadline.

Just give up the 2nd..

Yeah, just give up the pick and let's move on. It's a dangerous game to wait.

pugsnotdrugs19 09-30-2018 09:01 AM

Veach is playing with fire. Our 2nd round picks aren’t even that valuable. They very well may be #31 and #32.

The Franchise 09-30-2018 09:03 AM

The Seahawks aren’t budging.

Another shittier team will come a long and offer a better 2nd round pick and we’ll be ****ed.

Sassy Squatch 09-30-2018 09:03 AM

Only way this is excusable is if Thomas is telling teams he's only signing a long term deal with Dallas.

A 2nd for an All Pro and the deal isn't done ROFL Suuuuure

He’s a moron if this is all true.

I pointed out earlier, some teams have this stupid view of how valuable draft picks are, NE has repeatedly traded all pros for chump change.

carcosa 09-30-2018 09:05 AM

I'm PISSED OFF!!!

CupidStunt 09-30-2018 09:06 AM

Yep, exactly as I expected - compensation is the issue. We'll pay ET if we can agree on that.

The Seahawks supposedly declined the Cowboys' 2nd and that pick is going to be worse than ours. I'm not sure I completely believe this report, but if it is accurate, that's ****ing annoying. I bet they want to see how the D does with Berry first, but **** that, you get a player as good as ET if he's available regardless.

CaliforniaChief 09-30-2018 09:06 AM

Think of it like this:

Chiefs trade:
Marcus Peters
2018 6th round pick (John Franklin Myers?)

Chiefs get:
Earl Thomas
2018 4th round pick. (Armani Watts?)

Assuming you can extend Thomas, it seems pretty good to me.

TambaBerry 09-30-2018 09:10 AM

if it really is just one 2nd round pick like that report indicates then **** you Brett Veach. It should have been done at the beginning of the week and he would be playing against Denver.

Mother****erJones 09-30-2018 09:11 AM

The Seahawks aren’t coming any lower. They have the perfect scenario. They can continue to fine gun and make money off his contract back and he still plays in games.

Alright, I see what Veach is doing now then.

Chiefs are in the drivers seat. They have the most ammo.

Mother****erJones 09-30-2018 09:16 AM

Explains why they turned Dallas’s one 2nd down.

With how KC has drafted in round 2 lately, I think I’d do 2nd and 2020 conditional 3

Don’t have a 4th

O.city 09-30-2018 09:19 AM

It does seem like they may end up moving him though. The problem asking that much is he needs a new contract as well.

If someone is offering a 2nd plus, take it and be done

Mother****erJones 09-30-2018 09:20 AM

Seattle wants 2 2s for Thomas

Steelers want 2nd and a good player for Bell

Steep asking prices

BossChief 09-30-2018 09:21 AM

No doubt the hangup is the contract negotiations.

Earl wants the highest safety contract in league history. To me, he’s worth it. He’s been durable, dependable and is a game changer.

Mahomes and this offense are going to force opposing teams to throw it a lot and keep up with our scoring.

Having a difference making ball hawk at safety is a great investment.

Sassy Squatch 09-30-2018 09:22 AM

No one will give anything close to 2 2nds. If they're not budging, they probably don't want to trade him and are just putting on appearances for Thomas to shut him up.

It's fine to play hard ball. Why should they be in any rush to trade him? Might as well get some elite play and then move him at the deadline. If they don't do that and lose him to UFA, now THAT is mismanagement.

I'd bet anything they'll take the best offer they have on the table on Oct 30.

NONE of them say it's about $; they all say SEA isn't budging in compensation. Don't forget, teams need to agree to that before SEA will allow them to even TALK to ET, so how can anyone think the issue is $? That literally doesn't make sense.

There have been reports that KC has already been in those contract talks.

Also, Schefter says the compensation is a 2nd for Earl.

It doesn't.

If we haven't agreedon trade compensation they aren't letting us talk to him about money details.

I suppose draft position might be why Seattle doesn't want to accept just a second from us?

I remember reading a few days ago that KC was talking contract with Earl, but Schefter said an hour ago that KC didn’t want to trade a 2, so those reports were probably wrong. Schefter is 100% credible.

-King- 09-30-2018 09:46 AM

Don't know if I ever shared this story but...

I saw Earl Thomas at a grocery store in Seattle couple months . I told him how cool it was to meet him in person, but I didn’t want to be a douche and bother him and ask him for photos or anything.

He said, “Oh, like you’re doing now?”
I was taken aback, and all I could say was “Huh?” but he kept cutting me off and going “huh? huh? huh?” and closing his hand shut in front of my face. I walked away and continued with my shopping, and I heard him chuckle as I walked off. When I came to pay for my stuff up front I saw him trying to walk out the doors with like fifteen Milky Ways in his hands without paying.

The girl at the counter was very nice about it and professional, and was like “Sir, you need to pay for those first.” At first he kept pretending to be tired and not hear her, but eventually turned back around and brought them to the counter.

When she took one of the bars and started scanning it multiple times, he stopped her and told her to scan them each individually “to prevent any electrical infetterence,” and then turned around and winked at me. I don’t even think that’s a word. After she scanned each bar and put them in a bag and started to say the price, he kept interrupting her by yawning really loudly.

The more I think about it, the more I’d be inclined to give them a second and fourth for ET.

That would mean that we turned Peters and a 6th round pick into Earl Thomas.

If Peters was not going to re-sign with us, then that sounds like a great deal. We also know that there were potential locker room concerns with Peters. He also didn’t have a flawless game, even though he was an elite ball hawk.
