So which one of these guys are we firing that underachiever Self for? LMAO

Nobody.

But that doesn't change the fact that KU is a perpetual choke artist.

Dude, I tried to tell you it was not going well.

Sending "**** you" messages to two different moderators is not a smart thing to do if you like being here. Don't pull a Hootie and get yourself banned from the site. Seriously. Just go to bed.

We've had plenty of chances to win the ****ing tournament. We've just shat our pants.

The #1 seed in the AFC?

Denver entered the playoffs as the AFC #1 seed.

They won the Super Bowl.

You're acting like a ****tard.

Face the facts instead of shunning them when they don't fit your narrative.

You must have hated Matty Schottenheimer.

Awful performance. Still proud of the team though.

Wright took Ellis out of the game knowing the remaining talent on KUs roster simply wasn't good enough to win.

Hat's off.

Sleep this one off bud. You'll feel better in the morning.

It should be noted that none of these guys would leave those current schools.

It goes without saying. It's clear you could only seriously make the argument for three out there (K, Cal, Roy) being better than him anyway (and even then it's questionable based on those records). The idea that Self is an underachiever/choker is baseless in fact and honestly too ridiculous for words, though.

Kansas chokes, Duke doesn't

Coach K has been at Duke since the ****ing Reagan administration.

Self has 2 first round exits and 3 second round exits since 2004.

Coach K has 3 first round exits and 2 second round exits in that same time span.

The only equalizer is that since Bill Self started coaching at Kansas, Coach K won the extra championship game that Self lost.

Coach K is a legendary coach, possibly the 2nd best in NCAA history behind John Wooden. But since Self started at Kansas, it's really ****ing silly to call Self a choker and Coach K a non-choker. Each coach has had his share of embarrassments and successes in that span.

Rasputin 03-27-2016 01:40 AM

Although disappointed I'm still at least stoked that Royals won World Series so I'm not complaining about KU making it to the Elite 8 that still pretty good. I mean it was another solid season that KU kicked ass in.

Bill Self is an awesome coach he will win more championships with KU I believe so I don't want him going anywhere. It's just hard to win championships or it wouldn't be so epic to win the damn things.

It's Chiefs turn to win a championship anyways.

Can you imagine how much these fools would have melted down if KU lost to Robert Morrison at home in the first round of the NIT?

KCCHIEFS27 03-27-2016 08:45 AM

The comments about Self being a choke artist are jejune opinions. It is simply a tenuous argument from the bunch.

CoMoChief 03-27-2016 09:08 AM

Nova was a legit team all season long. No surprise here. KU recently was playing the best ball of just about any team in the nation leading up to this game, that is until they played a team that was playing even better.

They were the better team. They had KU out of their game all night. Perry Ellis turned into the old pussy Perry Ellis and KU got nothing from Traylor or their entire bench for that matter. Traylor was emotionally/mentally defeated from the very beginning. He was flat out getting muscled in the paint like a school boy bitch. You could see it when Self benched him, it's like he was knocked out, I'm not sure he even knew what happened or where he was at. That big dark Nigerian or whatever the ****, took Traylor to ****in' school, as well as KU's other big man.

They were bigger, stronger, and played better inside the paint. KU had 10pts from their post players. Nova dominated KU physically all game, only one of the few times under Self where I've seen that happen. Men playing boys. Seemed like most of KU's points were 3's or lucky junk that bounced in or 2nd or 3rd chance points. They didn't have any answer for Nova, and some of that is on Self, but this team is what it was, a finesse team.

As good as KU's guards played all season, Nova's were just as equal, and I've said this all year, KU didn't have the necessary big men Self normally likes to have and it may create some problems. It didn't matter in the Big 12, it's a more guard oriented league. Once they ran into someone bigger and tougher they shit their pants.

Self needs some trees to dominate the paint. Hopefully they can snag Thon Maker. The combo of Maker and Azubuike would be nasty in the paint. Lucas hopefully gets better with his footwork and free throws. There's still the slight chance KU lands 5* stud SF Joshua Jackson, I guess much of that depends on whether Selden jumps to NBA or not. Svi and Greene are still Jayhawks next season but I don't think Self is ready to start either of them unless there is some huge improvement between now and next Nov. and I'm guessing Self will have to pitch that to Jackson because I'm sure he's going to want to start and he probably notices that Diallo (a former highly touted 5* recruit) is not getting any playing time.

(3) 5* SF-Josh Jackson 6'7, 195lbs (Southfield, MI)
(NR) 5* C-Thon Maker 7'1, 220lbs, (Ontario, Canada)
(19) 5* C-Jarrett Allen 6'10, 235lbs (Austin, TX)
(20) 5* C-Marques Bolden 6'10, 240lbs (Dallas, TX)

It'd be really nice if KU could land 2 of those.

Kansas' Elite Eight loss illuminates underachievement in the NCAA tournamen
Scott Gleason USA Today Sports

Kansas' underachievement in the NCAA tournament over the past decade — because that's exactly what it has been — should not go unnoticed. The Jayhawks were the top overall seed in this tournament and had won 17 games in a row as the favorite to win the national championship. And yet, they're not going to Houston.
Consider these two stats:
► In the last eight years, the Jayhawks have been a No. 1, No. 2, No. 2, No. 1, No. 2, No. 1, No. 1 and No. 3 seed in the NCAA tournament. And they turned those great regular season résumés into only one Final Four run.
► Kansas' loss to Villanova was Bill Self's ninth NCAA tournament loss as the better seed, tied with Mike Krzyzewski for the most since 2004, Self's first season at Kansas.

Senior Perry Ellis graduates, and some of the other players from this talented squad will test NBA waters. Self no doubt will have another impressive recruiting class coming in, and Kansas will likely be a preseason top 10 team. But until this program starts excelling in March, its elite status will always have a blemish.
