Now, that is totally different if you are a guy like Buddy Hield. He didn't come to OU as a massive recruit, just a guy that could become a really good player. Those types of players should stay in school, because they can boost their draft stock by production. Guys like Diallo, Selden who are Top 15 recruits, it's best to go as soon as possible unless you are in a super unique situation.

Selden would have been a Top 25 or 30, most likely 1st round pick in the NBA Draft if he declared after his freshman year. Now he is likely a mid 2nd rounder.

Selden was being projected prior to his freshman season about being possible one and done... And then again Prior to his Sophomore season there were some projections of 1st round... but he never produced either year, so he wasn't in the projections pre-draft either year.

A total enigma of a player. Selden doesn't have the skillset or the basketball IQ to keep himself in the NBA, so I'd guess he'll be heading to to the NBDL or Europe.

Next year's draft is going to be much deeper.

Yeah, that's one explanation. It's not like he did much more in his junior year than the first two seasons at KU. From December on, he was largely a non-factor in the majority of the games.

I thought he was MUCH more effective on two point shots this year. Last year he was horrendous inside the arc, he seemed to finish much better this year. What would really worry me if I was an NBA team is his FT shooting. If he was a 70%ish FT shooter, as an NBA team I would hold out hope he could become a really good shooter but I'm afraid his jump shot is close to his ceiling. Almost never do guys that shoot FTs as bad as him end up being elite shooters.

It's crazy to think next season we're possibly going to have a more talented, deeper roster than this year. Likely a 1 seed again.

I heard the Greene and Svi rumor too and call bullshit.

I used to think Svi would bolt for European money, but I don't get that feeling from him. I'm really think Svi will blow up next year if given the opportunity to play 30 minutes. I know Greene said he would never transfer, but I believe he may have the opportunity after this semester or some summer classes to be a graduate transfer and not sit out. I would love to have Greene back, but I feel like it would be a no brainer to transfer (as a business decision) to a squad that doesn't value defense as much and allows more chucking up shots. He would be an amazing fit at some schools that play like Iowa State or Indiana etc.

Svi is younger than Josh Jackson. Think about that. Next year - his Junior year where he could conceivably GRADUATE - he will essentially be a one and done aged player in the eyes of NBA scouts.

Greene has no good reason to leave unless he is a grad transfer. If he has to sit out a year, why do that? Why make yourself a 23 year old rookie?

Some have responded "Because he's injured!" Fine, then redshirt, stay at KU, get your degree, and come back for your SR. year after Mason, Svi, and Jackson are gone. You and Graham starting.

Also, the Big 12 is likely gonna be down next year. UT and Tech will be good but no team will be on KU's level.

WVU will be returning quite a bit, IIRC.

Devin Williams is likely gone. He declared yesterday. If he doesn't come back things look murky for them.
