So, NOW you're basing it on winning seasons?

LMAO

So predictable.

Ryan also puts up numbers.

He's the best QB that franchise has ever had.

WITH Elite receivers and talent.

Have you SEEN them this year? He's ****ing awful, as is the team.

I swear to ****ING GOD, there's no way you watch NFL football.

Seriously.

His playoff performance last year is what makes him more than a notch above Smith.

OTOH, Brees, Manning, Rodgers and Brady are always great, despite the lack of elite talent around them.
Yes, they are. But the discussion doesn't involve them. Or at least I understood that the comparison being discussed was simply between Flacco and Smith. And let's face it, Alex Smith isn't even close to being in that category, with the Brees' and Brady's of the world.

Like I said: a guy is allowed to have a down year.

I bet the Falcons are back to their winning ways next season.

Alex Smith's playoff game against the Saints is up there with any of Flacco's games in the playoffs. IMO Smith would have won back to back Super Bowls if not for the shitty luck he had against the Giants and his injury against the Rams.

Flacco's wasn't "a game". It was four, half of them on the road (and a third on a neutral field), with the "worst" being a 240 yard, 3 TD performance in Foxboro in the AFC championship game. He beat Andrew Luck, he beat Peyton Manning in Denver, he beat Tom Brady in New England and he beat Colin Kaepernick in the title game. 1140 yards and 11 TDs in total, for a team that was basically, on paper, overmatched in every single game they played.

If Alex Smith wins us a Super Bowl, I would have no ****ing problem with giving him the contract the Ravens gave Flacco. No reservations at all.

This is not true.

This season Alex is attempting only 5.7% of his passes downfield.

During 2012 and 2011 Tom Brady was at 13.2% and 9.8%.

Even during the 9.8% season Brady attempted 60 passes down the field. This year Alex is on pace for 32.

It should be noted that Alex is not good at moving the chains or throwing downfield. His 49ers teams and this team were/are poor on third down, and of course lol at his ability to go down the field.

Alex sucks, get used to it.

It is true and you posted it yourself wherein we laughed at you. See here:

/BB/showpost.php?p=10144592&postcount=8173

You were showing how Alex was league bottom at 9.7% attempts and failed to notice Tom Brady during his historic 5000 yard season was at 9.8%. You also failed to notice Alex was 5% more accurate downfield than Brady.

Face it, your "OMG WE GOTTA GET A QB WHO THROWS IS LOONNNNGG" theory is full of crap. Like or hate Alex Smith all you want, but deep ball attempts is not the issue. Data is pretty incontrovertible that you don't need to throw deep to have a prolific offense.

Hammock Parties 11-11-2013 09:41 PM

No. 5.7%.

Please get it right.

And no, you don't NEED it, but it is a huge asset. And in Alex's case, he sucks at everything anyway.

BossChief 11-11-2013 09:57 PM

The game Sunday will be the first real test for Alex Smith in relation to if we can advance in the playoffs with him.

He needs to stay calm and move the offense against a defense that we should be sble to move the ball and score points on...and we will NEED to.

I honestly think that if the offense can give us 24 points, we will win. I just doubt they can.

So, when Matt Ryan is surrounded by average perimeter talent, it's okay that he sucks.

Got it.

I wouldn't say he sucks.
