Heart wants him to get healthy, brain says that Patrick is a grown man and knows his body. He's not a rookie playing for his job. I expect him to be smart and the coaching staff insert an appropriate gameplan.

Andy throwing our Mahomes to the wolves on Saturday. Hope it doesn't backfire in a pretty meaningless game in the grand scheme of things.

On the contrary, it is those pushing for an injured Mahomes to play out of fear of losing the #1 seed that are the true cowards.

I have no such fear of the Texans or dropping behind the Bills or anything else. I know as long as Mahomes is healthy come January, this team has the best shot of all wherever they are seeded.

I heard PMII mention this on Tuesday, but had no idea there was a Russell Wilson connection. Seems plausible that his reference was actually about Wilson. ROFL

Patrick Mahomes aims subtle dig at Russell Wilson as Kansas Chiefs get injury update

Kansas City Chiefs star Patrick Mahomes has thrown a subtle dig at Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Russell Wilson as he bids to make an early comeback from injury.

Speaking on Tuesday, Mahomes claimed he is doing everything possible to get himself in good stead for the Chiefs' showdown with the Houston Texans on Saturday afternoon. However, he has limits on what he will do to get back on the field, and it doesn't include emulating Wilson, who once performed knee highs on a plane journey to get himself back to full fitness.

The 29-year-old suffered the blow during the Chiefs' 21–7 win over the Cleveland Browns on Sunday. However even as he desperately attempts to shake off the ankle injury, he mockingly revealed his rehabilitation doesn't extend to going the lengths the then Denver Broncos star went to in 2022.

"We get back a little earlier with the noon game, kind of getting ourselves ready on the plane," Mahomes said to reporters earlier this week. "I wasn't doing high knees or anything like that (chuckling). We did some movement stuff, some icing... we didn't want it to just sit there and get too stiff."

Mahomes' sly comment comes years after Wilson performed the elaborate exercises on his team's flight to London for a game. The Broncos had a lengthy trip to the UK capital for a fixture against the Jacksonville Jaguars, but the quarterback was determined not to waste the time allocated to him by the long-haul journey.

Wilson was recovering from a hamstring injury at the time and said that, while his team-mates slept, he was exercising in the aisle to make sure his legs were ready for his side's next game. "I was on the plane, first two hours of the eight-hour flight here I was watching film, watching all the cutups and everything else, and then for the next four hours I was doing treatment on the plane," Wilson said.

"I was walking up and down the aisle, everybody else was knocked out, I was doing high knees, working my legs and everything else, making sure I was ready to rock. That was good. Then I fell asleep for one hour and I watched film for the rest. I felt good to go."

Mahomes underwent tests after he picked up a worrying-looking injury to his right ankle. The three-time Super Bowl winner limped off the field during the fourth quarter after trying to deliver a jumping pass but was pinched between several Cleveland defenders.

Initial X-rays returned negative, but subsequent tests have now confirmed that Mahomes suffered a mild high ankle sprain. The injury has come at a trying time for the Chiefs as they face a busy Christmas schedule with the Texans to come on December 21 before facing Wilson's Steelers on Christmas Day.

NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport, via sources, reported that, despite his best efforts, Mahomes' status for the Texans is in doubt, but he will be "fine long term". Mahomes was replaced in the final stages of the Browns' victory by veteran backup Carson Wentz, who is in line to start if the quarterback is ruled out.

The Chiefs are in a solid position to finish as the top seed, with them recording one win more than the Philadelphia Eagles and the Detroit Lions. They'll now be hoping to extend their 13-1 record in the final three games of the regular season.

Andy Reid is as conservative and careful as it gets with managing injuries and determining when players are ready to return to play.

Do people think that this is Mahomes’ first rodeo? Think this is his first time playing banged up? Do people think he’s an absolute moron who would risk further injury? Have we not seen that this is a guy who clearly sees the bigger picture? Heck just look at the way the guy runs his life outside of football. Let’s give him just an ounce of credit here and assume that if he’s playing, it’s because he feels confident that doing so isn’t going to present any greater of a risk that is already there playing tackle football at the NFL level.

They will get the #1 seed and Patrick will be healthy. Stop assuming he won't be just because he's playing in Saturday. You're scared, we all know it.

We can't win without Mahomes but apparently can't trust him to make good decisions. Somehow those two ideas go together. LMAO
