3 year 34.5 million.

There are probably 31 other teams with better OL's than what we had in the SB.

The SB isn't even a point of conversation. That atrocity is a rarity.

Fanboys here don’t seem to understand that replacing 2 quality tackles entirely, a center that got his shit pushed in constantly on run plays, a second year G/C who is measurably better on run downs than passing and a Wylie size black hole at the other guard...is currently woefully still broken.

The MOST important task for Veach is to rebuild the line to be as good or better for opening day 2021 as it was for opening day 2020.

Beyond ANYTHING ELSE......Veatch needs to fix this OL and give Mahomes the ability to set and survey, instead of running around the field all game long.

At this point.... we have a world class LG.....a medical doctor who sat out last season (and not much in 19), a turnstile in Wylie, a broke Dick in Long who blew leading up to him walking away, a part time center that couldn’t unseat Reiter, a rookie Covid causality, Remmers waiting for a contract offer, a couple of practice squad JAGS.

At this point...signing Long, knowing the scope and gravity of fixing this line is......disappointing to say the least, and he’s got a whole lot of work ahead of him...a LOT.

Jesus Christ man. Chill out.

They’re not going to going into 2021 with a pair of tackles they feel as good about as they did entering 2020, with as few questions. Injuries drove that.

But they are going to go into it stronger inside (especially if they draft a C high or sign Andrews). And they’ll either have a vet who is reasonably similar to Fisher and a high upside rookie, or two high upside guys.

Stop acting like the season starts tomorrow.

Wrong. Players can speak. It’s the team, meaning coaches/FO/owner, that isn’t allowed to speak to the player.

From the rule book:

b) NFL Players. No club, nor any person employed by or otherwise affiliated with a club,
is permitted to tamper with a player who is under contract to or whose exclusive
negotiating rights are held by another club

Talk about a high-pressure sell.

Established NFL players recruit free agents to come to their teams every year, and Trent Williams was getting his fair share of calls and texts in this cycle, too. One recruiter, however, stood out.

It was Patrick Mahomes, the Chiefs quarterback who was last seen running for his life from Buccaneers pass rushers in the Super Bowl. According to those privy to the conversations, Mahomes made a strong pitch in texts and phone calls to Williams about joining him as the Chiefs’ new left tackle.

Dude if you have articles posting that players did that, it's going to be very hard for the league to look the other way and you can bet rival teams will make sure to bring it up with the league.

That's why I think o.city misread. Because that would be a dumb mistake for the chiefs to make. Not Mahomes talking to Williams. Players talk all the time. But to have it leak that they did would be really dumb.

Starting to sweat a bit on the LT situation. They went hard after Trent Williams but now that plan A fell through we’re trying to see what plan B is.

It can’t be Reiff bc he’s been available for awhile and he surely would have been contacted by now and the same goes for Villanueva.

I have to wonder if Dillard is plan B?

I'm actually starting to sweat the other positions like wr, de, lb. I don't expect them to sign a major free agent at every position but a wr to replace Sammy is essential and we could use at least a little help on D before the draft.

Those markets are still okay. The LT market is pretty well gone at this point unless they want Villanueva or Reiff.

Hammock Parties 03-17-2021 09:01 PM

The line isn't going to be All-World. You guys need to get over it.

Patrick doesn't need an All-World line. We'll be fine as long as we don't have five garbage cans out there again.

pugsnotdrugs19 03-17-2021 09:06 PM

I don’t think Reiff is in the plans, no. Cincy is looking at him tomorrow which would probably be as a RT prospect. Word is he is better playing on the right side.

Jason Peters type of player + Remmers + R1 OT? Let the first rounder start.

I’d prefer we find a way to pry Tunsil from Houston.

I've resigned myself to having Niang, a rookie and maybe a stopgap like peters competing for t positions. Maybe a trade option like dillard.

Wr is worrying me more now. Not much left after juju and golladay and I don't know if we are players in that upper tier wr market.

A lot of us like Curtis Samuel and marvin jones in that tier below juju and golladay but they are gone now.

Who do we get if not juju or golladay? What else is good on this market?

Veach literally said....”we’re not going to run out and sign a WR in the first week.”

Ok. Then that sucks. We are probably looking at getting stuck with Sammy again. Veach is a good gm but not replacing sammy with a decent wr is a terrible decision. Even when mahomes had time last season, he could rarely find wrs other than hill/kelce and when teams double kelce and hill we are screwed no matter how much time a revamped line gives pat.

A brokedick steroid user, a washed up wr and a guy who has never been a difference makers? Yuck. Of those, I guess I'd choose hilton.

Yup. After the dust settles, there will be a bunch of WRs out there with talent and experience that will be looking forward a 1 year deal to build their value for a better WR market next year.

Guess what advantage we have in that scenario?

Wasn’t there a report we were showing interest in TY Hilton?

Very few teams can double both. Stop pretending every game was the Super Bowl.

We didn't have Sammy much last year and set a franchise record for wins.

Who though? Who do you think will be available? Maybe you're right but I'm not seeing it now. I could be wrong and just nervous which is why I'm looking to the cp braintrust for encouragement.

You don't think we might have to get through ne or tampa to win a bowl? There's a good chance we will.

No, we don't need to get through Tampa to reach a Super Bowl.

Nor do we need more to beat NE.

Of course I would like to add a weapon and I've listed out players I like in the draft forum.

Why don't you share what great WR is out there that will be that check mate piece to get us to the top?

You keep demanding it so just spell it out.
