Did the Saints, "who think the world of Daniel," not have the money to pay for his backup services as they helped him pack his bags?

I think they wanted to let him try and find a starting job somewhere.

This.

Chase is a good QB I think you'll be happy.

Plus he learned from one of the best.

Chase just needs playing time.

Drew just signed a new contract but he's probably going to retire after this one runs out.

It's time for Chase.

That would make sense and all if he had a chance to win the starting job in KC. But in case you missed it, thats already been guaranteed to Alex Smith.

Smith has an injury history.
And Reid may actually want to try something else after he has him throw the ball 30 plus times a game for a while.
We'll see I guess.
I'm betting Chase gets on the field at some point though.

You know, there's an angle to the Daniels signing that has probably gone fairly undiscussed.

The fact that part of his contract talks were about Alex Smith NOT starting for a significant portion of time over the next two years. It's a 3 year deal, so that voidable part only comes into play the first two years.

That coupled with TBGs info that the team isn't talking to Alex about an extension means that the team doesnt even see Alex Smith as a cemented starter past the first year.

Cocker spaniel Daniel will be ready when Alex becomes brittle in the cold.
