Agreed. I’m a huge Jones fan and think we should pay him all the monies. And I get other guys need to take advantage of the opportunities he creates by being double teamed. But sometimes you need your leader (of the defense) to take a game over. With a hobbled Mahomes and a history of nothing burgers vs this team, this is that game for CJ. He needs to wreck this game.

didnt jones have several huge bat downs and had the pressure that caused jimmy g’s first int in the super bowl? i know he didnt have a sack in that game but we definitely dont win that game without several of the plays he made.

Indeed. It would’ve never happened but I “argued” he had a legit case for MVP of that game. A game like that would be just fine this week. Doesn’t have to be sacks but he needs to be a boss out there Sunday.

I am very curious to see what Joe Cullen does with his rush lanes. I almost wonder if he has a guy like Danna and George rotate as a spy if they know they can’t get there to make sure Joe can’t just run in clear open lanes.

God DAMN is that frustrating to watch.

I don’t think so. He’s got cincy in the palm of his hand. Bengals have a few years before the roster and cap are challenged. There’s no desperation to win now. I’m sure burrow isn’t looking past us but it feels like the rest of the bengals are.

They've got probably until 2025 until the cap monster comes from under their bed, but he's yet to win a Super Bowl. He's 0-1 for now. If they're unable to win it all this year, he'll still be 0-1 or possibly 0-2.

Josh Allen is a great cautionary tale. Everyone thought he was primed for a run and certain to get a big victory. AFCCG loss in 2020, Divisional loss in 2021, and another Divisional loss in 2022.

Mahomes is another. He's got his ring, but there's mounting pressure on him to win another as the years go by.

There's really always pressure for an elite QB to deliver.

That last one was the big one.

IIRC, it was in the 4th quarter and on 3rd down.. would probably have won us the game.

Rush lanes are gonna be important.

It’s strange to say this with all-world QBs on both sides of the ball, but the running game will be key in this game. For the Bengals, their backup o-line needs the running game to take pressure off their shaky pass protection. For the Chiefs, if Mahomes has limited mobility, we will need a strong rushing attack to keep Mahomes clean.

We need our front 7 to bottle up Mixon and Perine. I think that’s gotta happen before we can take advantage of the Bengals’ backup pass protection unit.

CoMoChief 01-25-2023 10:02 AM

- Jam their WR's...double Chase any way you can. Do anything you can to force Burrow to hold onto the ball longer.
- Win the game in the trenches.
- Dont turn the ball over.
- Protect Mahomes

I don't mind if Mixon, Boyd, or Higgins get theirs. If the Chiefs do the above they'll win.

Line down to +1 despite no public sentiment.

Vegas is so greedy. They took a bunch of money on Cincy, and now it's flattened out, they want to entice even more. Because they know it's money in their pocket when Mahomes balls out and KC wins and reminds the world -- again? really? -- who the team to beat is.

Isn't this the game where CJ can plant his flag? All negotiations for a new contract can really hinge on this one game...if he gets 2 big sacks, a sack, hurris, and a batted pass, or a sack/strip, he has already won negotiations. If it looks like last year, the narrative will be "you have to be a difference-maker in games like this to get that Aaron Donald $". Seems silly to say it comes down to one game, but with 0 playoff sacks in 11 post-season games, it kind of does.

The Bills weren't ready when we beat them in the AFC championship game so they didn't deserve it for the 2020 season. They were very good in 2021 and Allen was hot, but lost in the divisional round. They were good this year, but not good enough. They have regressed a bit and now they have to deal with cap problems.

When the history of the Bills is written regarding the Josh Allen era, they won't be crying over the 2020 or 2022. It will be 2021 that fills them with regrets about what could have been.

They won’t have a cap monster until then. But they’re going to feel the hit relatively soon. you’ve got lots of guys in the secondary up for contract next year, as well as Hayden hurst who will likely get a pay bump. I just cannot see tee Higgins OR Boyd sticking around past 2024 and that’s huge.

Burrow likely gets paid next year so that’s going to hit next year. I imagine chase gets paid the year after.

So yeah, I think you see a steady drop followed by a HUGE drop.

Cincy is notoriously cheap is the big thing to watch here.
