We're so spoiled, we're defending a Lombardi and have people getting bent out of shape about the roster two years out.
It's a good time to be a Chiefs fan. We should revel in that. |
Sorry if Q, but I was listening to Time's Out this morning and Nate Taylor said the base salary for Smith was 4mm-ish with playing time incentives that bring it up to 9mm (similar to the way JJSS structured his contract last year).
He said he spoke with 3 people in the building on what role Smith would have: Person 1: He's our LT and is better than OBJ Person 2: He may be our LT Person 3: There may be a competition at LT |

Biggest x-factor for me is how much did Smith's injuries last season hamper his play. Bucs o-line was decimated by injuries last season and Smith gutted it out. We'll find out quickly if Smith can bounce back or if they'll have to pivot and go with Niang or Morris and flip Taylor.

Blows my mind seeing people get nervous that this guy will **** everything up. If his arm is healed he should be competent.
I don’t think people realize just how bad Orlando was last year. The Chiefs did not trust that man to be on an island at the end of the season until the SB. And I think they realized the field gave them that advantage. Said it in another thread. Watch the Bengals championship game again. They had McKinnon/Pacheco chipping for him most of the time and if they didn’t, we had designed screens and other misdirections/rollouts away from Orlando to protect him. They had training wheels on that guy bc they didn’t trust him |

He's not a dancing bear OT, but he's god solid movement skills. |

We can all hope for the best for this guy but I really don't see how we just pencil him in as the guy, especially this far out. There's plenty of reasons he was available for what is essentially a 1 year 4 million deal in an OT starved league. Even the Chiefs won't know what they actually have with this guy until we're almost ready to start firing live rounds. |
The guy had Jamies Winston as his Qb for years before Tom LMAO
You think he doesn’t have tons of experience with a QB extending plays? |
He was ****ing horrendous during those years as well. 54, 57, 42, and 49 are the pressures he gave up during that time span. Averaged 700 pass block snaps. By comparison, the apparently absolutely horrible Brown just allowed 47 pressures on 769 pass block snaps.
So yeah let's not be pointing to those years as any sort of indicator he'll be hunky dory here. The numbers say the opposite is true. |
Just for comparisons sake, the numbers absolutely plummet once Brady arrives. The pass blocking snaps remain the same but his pressures plummet to 35, 30, and 31. Because Brady makes the job of his OL easy with the cerebral quick pass offense he typically runs.
