Tejeda just couldn't ever develop into a ML hitter, unfortunately.
|
I think part of it is that the Royals are pretty boring right now - just not much to discuss. So there's not a ton of talk.
It's unlikely any prospects make an Opening Day splash, due to either not being ready or being blocked or whatever. The RF position battle is between a bunch of boring options. Same with 2B, where all the arguments have been hashed out. Until the games start mattering, the most exciting things are watching Kyle Zimmer and hoping no one else gets hurt. |

Somewhere in arizona I see Alnorth practicing setting up a gameday thread and then ****ing it up with announcers saying "Welp it's spring training for Northy as well Gus!"

I watched Moneyball last night, then looked up the lineup the night the As played us and broke the AL record with their 20th win in a row. http://www.baseball-reference.com/bo...00209040.shtml

Has anyone heard anything about Tim Collins? Is he 100% recovered from TJ surgery? Has he been pitching during spring training?
|
I'd be happy with Collins as our 6th reliever. Assuming we use Young as a starter, who's our other relievers?
Davis-Herrera-Hochever-Soria-?-? |
Tim Collins isn't even on the radar anymore. We got Duffman and Brian Lynn for the pen, they both have nasty stuffy.

Volquez, Ventura, Kennedy, Medlen, Young, Davis, Soria, Herrera, Hoch, Duffy, and Gee. Collins would make 12. Flynn would make 13. |

I am not sure how he'd transition to a bullpen guy but I do like his stuff. Seems this spring he can't even focus for an inning though. |
Trade Duffy while there is value

I don't think Danny ever makes another start for the Royals at this point.
I think I've long been his biggest fan, but he has lost it. |

Should have traded him for Cueto like I said! For real though... I think they'll keep riding it out to see if he turns it around, but no way he starts if he's pitching like this.

I'm really surprised Duffy hasn't developed --- I really thought he'd come into his own by now. He doesn't have that wipeout pitch, his fastball is straight and his control is obviously mediocre at best. Not a good combination for a starting pitcher. |
If Wang keeps pitching like he has, he probably won't start the year in the rotation, but he might get a shot before too long. Especially if he's really hitting 95 on the gun. Or I guess they could just use him as another power arm in the pen.

Just got through watching the 2015 postseason supercut again. Still not sure how we won the ALDS this year. Unbelievable series.

That pitching performance today, against guys who likely have no place on an MLB roster, was the final straw for me. Just be done. Cut him loose. Quit giving him chances to fail (ala Mitch Maier). |
um....
Duffy has a 3.27 ERA after returning from Tommy John surgery a couple years ago. No, he's not an ace... but he's still a very effective pitcher, with plenty of potential to still be more than that. He also JUST turned 27 years old.. relatively young, still. He didn't have a great year last year, but his "awful year" was still an ERA of 4.08. Let that soak in. He's also one of the best characters on the team. His twitter feed has been money for years. |
Quote:
he's going to start a bunch of game for us this year, very important guy. I too would encourage folks to pump the breaks on the writing him off. |
Duffman will be the next bullpen superstar.

Adam LaRoche retires after White Sox tell him his son cant be around the clubhouse this year

LaRoche has been ramming that kid up everyone's ass for years.
Focus on your shitty hitting instead of bringing your son to work everyday. |

The GM said LaRoche was bringing his kid to work every day, 100 percent of the time, and wanted him to cut back so the team could collectively focus on winning without distraction. |

yeah, thats a weird deal. I couldn't bring my kid to work every day.

Mad Dog getting all over Laroche right now for this. I work for myself and can't bring my kid to work everyday.

It's funny that people are dissing Kenny Williams over this but he wants this team to focus on winning. They've sucked for so long. It's time.
|
We sure they aren't confusing the kid with Adam Eaton?

Sounds like Sox players went to Williams about LaRoche. LaRoche is a douchebag and gave off that vibe last season midway after being benched for a few games for his awful play.

That's what. |
I grew up with Adam LaRoche. He's a genuinely great guy, and an even better dad. That said, I can't say that I disagree with the White Sox here.
Also, Adam ****ing hated playing in Chicago. He wanted out in a bad way. This was the last straw. |

@WriteSox: Things Adam LaRoche isn’t big on
1. School 2. $13 million 3. Shaving 4. Letting deer live 5. Making contact |
I guess Barry Bonds beat the Marlins players in a home run contest at practice.
Out hit them all including Stanton. At 51 I think...ROFL |

A nice clip of a day in the life of Rusty Kuntz. Best part is when Ned gets on him for getting carried away yapping in the dugout. |
Chris Sale still isn't happy about the LaRoche situation.
http://www.csnchicago.com/white-sox/...oche-situation Q: What’s the bigger problem? A: Lying, plain and simple. We got bold-faced lied to by someone we’re supposed to be able to trust. You can’t come tell the players it was the coaches and tell the coaches it’s the players and then come in and say something completely different. If we’re all here to win a championship, this kind of stuff doesn’t happen. Like I said, we’re not rebelling against the rules. It has nothing to do with the rules. It’s a much deeper issue and all this negative attention around so much positivity that was here before. We were rolling. We were having a great time. You guys have seen it. The drills are crisp, everything was clicking. And it just took someone to come in here and throw a wrench in the plans. |
