Hell no.... these days, buildings for stores like that are built as quickly and cheaply as possible by laborers who likely don't give two shits about the structure they're putting up.

Really just got a handle on how bad this was yesterday, hard to believe just how much of that town was destroyed.

Many thoughts & prayers to all there.

I can understand why somebody would think they'd be safer in a big building like that rather than an apartment building. For a smaller tornado, they probably would have been. For this bastard, though, you're probably right. I can't even imagine getting pummeled to death by the inventory of a Home Depot being hurled around at 200 mph. Jesus.

Tamko has donated $1,000,000 to the Red Cross tornado relief fund.

Tamko is headquartered in Joplin. That's very cool. They will, however make a boatload of $$$ repairing the roof damage from all those homeowner's insurance checks. So I guess that's a win-win.

Yep. You would think a structure that big could withstand a lot of punishment.

Out of morbid curiosity, did those that stayed at the apartment complex do any better? I'm guessing so.

Apartment complex was leveled too, so it's doubtful. Could you imagine nails flying around at 200 mph, let alone the heavier stuff?

People still amaze me. In a good way.

You might think about Springfield tonight. There's another big storm that's supposed to come through, and I think Springfield is supposed to take the brunt of it this time.

Going to be a rough night from Joplin to Springfield.

Lets hope Joplin gets very little, if anything severe.

Tamko also had (past tense) a plant in Tuscaloosa. I'm beginning to think that mother natures hates Tamko.
