The Freshest Tacos!

11 Alfred Morris
35 Kendall Wright
59 A.J. Jenkins
83 Stephen Hill
107 Travis Benjamin
131 Brandon Brooks
155 Jared Crick

The Tacos managed to have a middle of the pack defense, in spite of the bottom 5 in every category offense.
After not being able to resist the value of Alfred Morris, management decided to focus on the one position most in need of an upgrade.
The next four rounds immediately bolstered a receiving corps that consisted solely of Golden Tate.
After giving The Manning weapons for 2012 and beyond, sights were set for the future.
Brandon Brooks and Jared Crick will be able to sit for a year before moving into expanded roles.
We'll still need a couple free agents to make it happen, but the Solar East was the closest division in all the Sandbox and anyone's to take!
Playoffs this year for the Pittsburgh Tacos!

Send you a 7th next year for this year's 7th (probably...depending on who's left). Figure you may be more interested in a lottery ticket when the results aren't already in in the next draft.

Just a thought. I'm bored and everyone seems to have disappeared.

And so much for that 30 minute clock, eh?

Next year there absolutely has to be consequences for missing your spot. This is just stupid.

Hammock Parties 05-26-2013 11:15 AM

Gonna pick someone with my 7th.

But, you wanna trade Heath Miller? We could talk.

Starting with my League 1 team, here's where we stand.

Duluth entered the draft period with a solid overall team, but some glaring holes. We knew that Rashard Mendenhall had trouble carrying the ground game last year, and could use upgrades at free safety and corner. Center, defensive end, and right tackle looked to be problems from an injury standpoint, and our depth at linebacker was scary.

Recognizing that our low draft spot meant we were unlikely to get a premier rookie running back, we hit the trade market.

Our 1st round pick went for established veteran Frank Gore, a short-term play that we hope pays off.

Blessed with significant depth at guard, we made notable trades of solid players Jon Asamoah and Kory Lichtensteiger, with some draft maneuvering, to pick up DE Justin Tuck to flesh out the defensive line and RT Gosder Cherilus to solidify the right side.

We then swung another deal to pick up FS/CB Ronde Barber to add a high-caliber talent in the defensive backfield. It's another short-term play, but we thought the price was right, trading down only one round to fill a hole.

In the draft, we picked up more talent.

62 Duluth Pillagers Courtney Upshaw - Adds depth and upside, either inside or out.
68 Duluth Pillagers Josh Norman - A starting CB so we can move Ronde Barber to FS
86 Duluth Pillagers LaMichael James - A good kick returner who hopefully can develop and take carries in the backfield
110 Duluth Pillagers Josh Chapman - A good DT prospect who missed his rookie season with a knee injury
134 Duluth Pillagers Richard Crawford - A good nickel or dime back.
144 Duluth Pillagers Corey White - Another good nickel or dime back.
158 Duluth Pillagers Devon Wylie - Purely a lottery play. I think he plays fast and could develop into a good receiver or kick returner.

The only hole that remains unfilled is center, where we have two good long-term centers both of whom are doomed to injuries this season. We'll hit the free agent market to fill that gap.

When is FA?

Self Evaluation for 2012 draft:

1st Round - WR - Justin Blackmon - Grade: B-
The pick itself isn't terrible. Blackmon had a reasonably productive rookie season with a pretty bad QB play. If he keeps his head on straight and stays healthy, he should be a 1,000 yard guy pretty easily in the future.

But the opportunity cost on this pick is huge. Provo is thin at LB, and Wagner should have been the pick here. Poor research and draft board organization.

2nd Round - G - Kevin Zeitler - Grade: B
Nothing sexy about this pick, but my hands were pretty much tied. I'm going into 2012 with one healthy guard, and there was a solid 16 game starter left on the board. There was certainly better talent on the board, but I had to fill that gaping hole.

3rd Round - CB - DeQuan Menzie - Grade:
What a dumpster fire this pick was. I threw Menzie on my board to remind me to take a late round flier on him if talent was running thin, and I guess I never moved him down. I didn't think there was any way we were getting to my pick while I was unavailable Friday morning, so I didn't spend time arranging my board Thursday night. Boy, was I wrong. If I wasn't owner-GM, someone would have fired my ass.

4th Round - DT - Billy Winn - Grade: C-
I just didn't have the time to research this pick that I needed. Winn played pretty well last year, but I still drafted a backup 3-4 DE to play in the 4-3. There had to be better options out there for me here.

5th Round - DE - Olivier Vernon - Grade: B
He had 3.5 sacks in 2012 as a backup. Not going to see increased playing time with Jordan in the fold now, but I think he's got potential if someone gets injured or moved.

6th Round - FB - Evan Rodriguez - Grade: B
Another pretty boring pick, but Rodriguez played relatively well in 2012. It's an immediate upgrade to my current roster (at least for the 2012 season) so I consider that a successful 6th rounder.

7th Round - CB - Coty Sensabaugh - Grade: B+
Decent Nickel option, and I think there's a lot of value here for a 7th rounder.

You're right, I needed to edit that grade.
