That field is crazy!
|
Flynn needs to be gone - yesterday.
Dude's cost them two games in Spring Training. |

I don't give a shit what Williams told them. Maybe there were three different versions because three different groups complained about the kid being there. |

I bet they would have won more games without the kid.

Royals got crushed at the Alamodome today. But it was sweet watching Hosmer and Salvy crush back to back HRs.
Didnt even need the short porch in right. |
Reminder that Royals vs Cubs are on MLB Network at 4 ET/3 CT.
Ian Kennedy starts for KC. |

Haven't seen every ST game, obviously, but I've been impressed by Rey Fuentes when I've seen him play.
He seems like a really useful 4th OF |

Me too but does he have a chance to make the 25 man? |

I think so. He has been the most impressive of the extra OF guys, including Orlando. He definitely makes it opening day, and if he performs, I could see them keeping 5 OF, I guess. It's all going to depend on his audition. If he takes advantage, they'll have a hard time moving him out entirely, IMO. |

Who replaced Andy McCullough as the Star's Royals reporter?
|
Man id love if NOMar Outfante would start bringing his kid around and then quit with 16M of dead money remaining

I still follow Andy on Twitter, but I probably shouldn't. Every time he tweets about a player injury, my heart skips a beat before I realize he's talking about the Dodgers.

Competition for the last spot in the bullpen just got a little thinner.
Ohlendorf opts out of Royals contract Since he's not on the 40 man roster, it would be hard to keep him. The only person I would consider removing from the 40 man roster to keep him would be Tim Collins (IR candidate). http://m.royals.mlb.com/news/article...oyals-contract |
Back from trip to Spring Training. Went to three games and a couple morning practice sessions. Pretty cool experience, if you're into that sort of thing. The games of course lack the drama or intensity of a real game, but you get to see a lot of stuff up close.
The morning practice sessions are also interesting. Some of their drills are the same as we did in Little League. And it's pretty cool seeing how seemingly effortlessly how great most of these guys are (compared to normal humans). Gordon put on a pretty good show one day. After throwing several strikes in a row to the plate from the deep outfield, during his BP, he was just a machine. Line drive to left, liner to LC, liner to center, liner to RC, liner to right, HR to left, HR to center, HR to right. Machine. Salvy just flicks HRs out to LF seemingly at will. Also interesting to see how some guys interact with fans. Alex I think makes it a point not to even make eye contact with fans. But if you wanted an autograph from Ned, you got one. He'd spend 45 minutes before the game going down the rail signing every autograph, taking every picture. |

Swap Merrifield out for another reliever (I'm going to guess Duensing, which will make Lefevre jizz his pants), and I think you're right on. |
You may get a reaction from gordon if you are wearing nebraska. He is all business.

One game I went to though, LoCain, Moose and Gordon signed for 15 minutes down the railing before the game. I've never seen that. You'll probably never see that from Gordo again I bet. He's the hardest to get by a mile. I got him 3 years ago and he didn't say a word to me. Looked a bit perturbed. Then again, he really is a shy guy. Moose is awesome. Wear his jersey and he'll throw you a ball. He's easiest to get an auto from too and loves talking with people. Glad you enjoyed it. It's very relaxed, which you either like or hate about it. I just appreciate how close you get to them. It's amazing how big they all are up close, yet can maintain that quick speed. I think Cain is the most impressive live. He's big and so quick. Just amazing. |

#1 HS player in America is in KC Metro again, just like 2011 with Starling:
http://www.nola.com/lsu/index.ssf/20...su_baseba.html This may have been posted already, but id never heard of him, and if I hadn't, there's no chance any of you sonsabitches did either outside of Dincan |

Yeah, Pint is a very projectable righty. He's not a cant-miss-No. 1, but he's talented. I'm also aware of potential 2019 first rounder Darrien Howard, who is the son of Ryan Howard and is - I believe - starting for Rockhurst as a true freshman. (I used to work with his mom). He hit a triple off the top of the fence in LCF on the first pitch he saw in his first Hs game. |

It's amazing how a post on an opponent's message board led to a nickname that everyone uses.

When it fits you know it immediately. Most relievers are very demonstrative. Wade bucks that trend. Stone cold emotionless killer.

Great breakdown in Baseball Prospectus Kansas City today re: Kelvin Herrera's slider.
I didn't realize how dominant the pitch was, but he got a near-30 percent swing-and-miss rate on it over the second half of 1015 and the playoffs. Just another weapon for him and should make him even more dominant vs RH hitters. |

Surprised no one has posted the gold trim jerseys the Royals are going to wear opening night. Apparently they go on sale at the K gift shop tomorrow morning.

Not everyone gets it, but for the vast majority of pitchers that do, week 3 is usually where you see it. Not surprising at all that he had a little lower velocity early on as he's breaking the rust free and then after a couple weeks, it dropped. He'll fight through the dead arm and come back somewhere near where he was last year. Reliever volatility and general aging curves for relief pitchers do suggest that he'll probably lose a tick of velocity this year over last, but probably no more than a half mph or so. The only thing that would really worry me is that it's that power cutter that makes Davis pretty unique and so effective. There are maybe 3-5 guys that can get a cutter into the mid-90s and all of them are friggen nails (Betances is the other that springs immediately to mind). If he does lose a mph or so, that cutter goes from otherwordly to merely very good and at that point he may be closer to mortal. He'll still be damn good, but probably closer to the Kenley Jansen sort of "goddammit, how are we going to hit him?" rather than "well **** this, why am I even bringing a bat to the plate?" |

If anyone is interested in a fantasy baseball league with CP members, let me know. 3 openings in a league that's been around for quite a while. I'm giving those 3 owners another day to jump in, otherwise I'll be sending invites to anyone interested. Small entry, pretty basic rules.
