Some of you ****ers want to go back to the Jovan Belcher days it seems.

We've got speed in these ILBs. If Dorsey truly wanted these guys to be run stuffers, he would have found/drafted bigger players.

ChiefAshhole1056 08-25-2016 05:15 PM

Mauga is the one who calls the plays on defense and everyone from DJ to Sutton praise him for how well he executes his role. He may not be the Kuechly-level player all you are wanting, but he's an average, satisfactory ILB who's salary is among the lowest of starters on our defense.

Not everyone can be elite, and he's not a bad "weakest link" when you compare it to other teams across the league.

SD is a struggling team with adversity already, the Texans have a brand new QB and receivers with no Watt and their starting C (Nick Martin) is now on IR and the Jets are good but not as good as they appear on paper.

My big fear is we can't get pressure on Rivers and lose a shootout week 1.

Jets worry me a little. Part of it is hearing it from my friends and students if the Chiefs actually lose, but I worry when KC plays teams that are built and play just like they do.

Faulk is one of the worst football analysts I have ever heard, ever. He is unbelievably bad on NFLN. Even during the KC game he said of the players ejected in the fight, "don't fight in a preseason game, do that in a regular season game." Getting kicked out of a regular season game is a good idea is it?

Because when they cut him, they want to stash him on the practice squad. If teams don't have tape on him, maybe he will clear waivers.

No. He can't. The maximum is 2 accrued seasons. I believe he has 3. I just said that to give Tomahawk a hard time.

I said he would eventually gain that roll not start there. And being the 4th option isn't playing a large part in the offense.

Nowhere was it implied Reid was hiding Hill or saving him. No idea where you came up with that. He is a rookie he needs some time but IMO before the year is over he could very well be our main slot receiver.

People need to tamper down their expectations on Hill. We've seen this movie before. Don't expect a world beater from a rookie wr and you won't be disappointed. Everything else he may contribute is gravy.

I say this as someone who went to camp and based on what I've seen in person, the preseason games, and everything else talked about the kid, think he's got a promising future & a buttload of talent.

Adam Scheftner says Hill could have easily been a 1st round pick if not for the off the field issues. He has that kind of talent.

Very interesting comments by Schefter.

Also says the Chiefs have big plans for him on offense and special teams...and that he has the same ability as Percy Harvin that Brad Childress coached in Minnesota.

Flat out said that without the baggage, he should have been a first rounder.

Shekelsteinberg 08-26-2016 08:10 AM

I wish that Chiefs news was less sporadic, the numb nuts 'experts' of NFL Network and ESPN are the dumbest people in existence and should be ignored. Those people literally have borderline reeruned IQ's.

That was predicted as soon as the rule changed. Teams will kick for hang time and have their teams cover them because most likely the return will be less than 25 yards.

No one is debating his talent. It's still a tall order to have a rookie wr come in and smash it. Not to mention that Maclin, Kelce, Charles, and the rest will get there touches. 1 ball to go around, but with legit threats at so many other positions, it can be to his advantage of less pressure and focus on him as he is groomed.

I'm sure he's going to have a couple of games he shines, and probably more that he doesn't do much. I'm just not expecting or demanding that he come in a game in and game out fill up the stat sheet.

My answer: Hell yes!

2. Who will lineup across from Marcus Peters?

My answer: Gaines but not guaranteed.

3. Who will lineup next to Ron Parker?

My answer: Eric Murray will make the team.

4. Can the first-team offense keep rolling?

My answer: Hell yes!

5. Who will get the nod at inside linebacker?

My answer: Justin March

Chiefs outside linebacker Justin Houston made an appearance outside while his teammates were practicing for the first time all camp on Monday.

Houston, who is working his back from an ACL injury, wore a bucket hat as he continued his rehab by working on his hand movements, something he’s previously done inside the training facility.

On Sunday, Chiefs coach Andy Reid confirmed Houston is with the team — “he’s in the building, yes,” he said — but didn’t have an update on his status.

“He’s the same as he was before — we’re taking it day-to-day,” Reid said. “When you’re around him, he gives you confidence that he’s going to be ready to go this year, but we’ll see how it all works out.”

Houston underwent surgery in February to repair an ACL that was not functioning properly. Reid added Sunday that the Chiefs are going to be careful with him.

“I’m going to listen to the doctors, the trainers and Justin and see how things work out,” he said.
Practice notes

Center Mitch Morse missed a portion of practice Monday. Morse missed Saturday’s game with an illness. Left guard Parker Ehinger missed practice Monday with an illness. Zach Fulton earned the first-team work at center in Morse’s place while Jah Reid earned the first-team work at left guard.

Safety Eric Berry, who made his return to the field on Monday after skipping the first month of training, rotated in with the first-string at safety next to Ron Parker.

Safety Jeron Johnson was excused from practice for personal reasons.

I think that's because we're overanalyzing everything at this point.

The fact that he was out there, and Reid's comments, give me confidence. I don't see any reason to get a negative vibe from that report.

Pasta Little Brioni 08-29-2016 07:18 PM

O freaks out about everything, but he's right that this situation is weird that we STILL don't have any kind of timetable.

O.city 08-29-2016 07:22 PM

Reid's comments don't seem to bring much confidence to it.

Houston thinks he'll play but we'll see. Seems to me everyone but houston leans to him not playing this season

That is an extremely negative way to take his comments IMO lol.

Just because he's saying that being around Houston "gives you confidence" means he doesn't believe it himself?

I mean, he's saying he makes him (Reid) feel that way. Meaning he feels that way too.

I understand why you're concerned, but I think you're overanalyzing this report.

ACL taking more than 9 months to rehab would be far different than the norm with medicine and technology today

Maybe the team will get over the yearly bout of the flu before the regular season starts.

Either that, or Morse and Ehinger have mono.

Exactly. The only way he doesn't play is if there's more to it, and if it's more to it why would they even be teasing us with the possibility of him coming back still? Have him show up on the practice field when you know it's going to be reported? Continue to say these things about him giving you confidence "be ready to go this season"?

Also, how do you keep that from the media for this long?

He actually said "be ready to go this year".

That sounds a bit different from "play this year".

It almost sounds like he means earlier in the season, but I'm not going to speculate.

But I can think of no one more qualified to make that determination, especially when the Chiefs doctors agreed and closely monitored his recovery (or lack thereof).

It sucks for Houston, it sucks for the Chiefs and it sucks for the fans.

But when the best doctors in the world make a determination, what other option does anyone have at that point?
