He hasn’t played well this yr but after he got healthy last yr he kicked ass not only rushing but also setting the edge ,I thought he played the run pretty damn good?

He's not bad just not worth the contract. And yeah he has his moments hopefully he will tear it up during the playoffs

The Chiefs wouldn't have advanced in the playoffs and won the Super Bowl without Frank Clark, so he was worth every goddamn penny and both draft picks that made it happen.

We need more time to draw that conclusion. Beginning of last season we thought it was a horrible trade, last postseason we all were completely fine with the trade and the Super Bowl it brought us, now we're back to hating it.

Truthfully, with the amount we gave up, he was never going to live up to it. Wasn't it a 1st, 2nd and $100m contract? At that steep a price, anything less than consistent TJ Watt level production was going to piss us off, but we needed a culture change and we needed it quickly. They did the best thing they thought they could at the time. What's done is done. I'm not even mad about it but his cap hit is about to reach absurd territory so he needs to get his shit together quickly.

O.city 12-07-2020 02:05 PM

With what he was doing in Seattle, the way he played etc, fine with it if that’s what you get.

But at best, in those trades you hope to break even. They aren’t gonna prove valuable. He was instrumental in winning a super bowl here. Played great down the stretch.

So yeah, as far as I’m concerned, we won the trade and won a Super Bowl. The rest is whatever to me atleast.

I’m tired of being miserable.

And one of those picks you could say we got back.

Titty Meat 12-07-2020 03:39 PM

We desperately needed a pass rushing end at that point too. Look at that draft and where we would have picked. The Seahawks took LJ ****ing Collier with that pick and he hasnt done shit. The Clark trade was the correct move for a team chasing a title

JakeF 12-07-2020 04:01 PM

We should have been all over Carlos Dunlap and Yannick Ngakoue at the trade deadline. Both of them would have really helped us. Yannick cost a 5th RD pick and about 4m in salary. Carlos was signed for about 1.5 million.

We could have afforded both. They would have improved our defense so much. They would help keep our guys fresh and both can rush the passer.

Yannick was a 3rd round pick + IIRC.

Yep.

Some people will say they should have kept Houston but the guy didn't want to be here.

I have no clue if he wanted to be or not but he wasn’t gonna get paid that. So he chose to leave instead of take a cut.

ThaVirus 12-07-2020 04:33 PM

I'll argue to this day that Houston is still a really good player and has a place on a winning roster, but he missed out more than we did.

That was my point.

If he REALLY wanted to stay, he would have negotiated.

It wasn't even that he wanted that amount of money. He wasn't even willing to talk to them. He basically forced his way out of town.

Yeah we would have won with or without him. So if he was offered close to what he got with Indy and refused, that's on him. But yeah I wish he would have taken the pay cut and stayed. Would have saved the chiefs money and picks.

The big problem is that Clark essentially cost $7M last year. The rest of his contract is a lot more and then we gave up picks, so yeah there's some long term problems there.

But in the context of last year, Houston wanted his $20M. We saved $13M by getting Frank Clark, which enabled all the other moves they made.

His unwillingness to negotiate was the only real issue. He could have been here.

Sassy Squatch 12-07-2020 04:54 PM

I think that 3rd round pick was conditional.

If the Ravens only keep him 1 year it costs a 5th round pick. If they sign him long term it adds a 3rd round pick to the deal.

Renting Yannick this year for a 5th round pick would be worth it if we win another title imo.

Valiant 12-07-2020 05:14 PM

I still think he is nursing an injury. Plus with holding being not called and our predictive rush/blitz is making them less outstanding.

Hopefully we change it or mix it up in the playoffs.
Rush four, use stunts.

That guy was just way too inconsistent with injuries since 2015 no way I would have paid him anything. Just like Ford which was a trade we clearly won.

DJs left nut, although to be fair his argument was more that Clowney is a little lesser of a player that would cost way less comparatively to Clark.

No, but the “under” could be more stupid penalties as we’re accustomed to as of late from Clark.

He had several pressures and I think he tipped a ball as well.

Think though that his knee might still be bothering him. Looked a little slow to get off the line towards the end. And I noticed he took a lot of snaps off in the second half.

I can tell you this was 100% the case.

I was at the game and the visitors side was SO much hotter it was ridiculous. It was obvious our guys were feeling the heat and exhausted towards the end of the game. We were rotating guys like crazy all day because of it.

Megatron96 12-20-2020 07:19 PM

Clark started out okay, but you could tell something's wrong with him. After that play where he got spun around by the Saints Tackle, he wasn't the same. Guessing that spin put some torque on his knee or ankle and that was that.

There's nothing wrong with him he just sucks. Got hot last season in playoffs just like Flacco that's all.

Get rid of him soon as we can.

Where's the moron staylor to defend him some more?

He's been favoring that leg for a couple weeks now at least. Andy or Spags even mentioned it in their post-game presser a couple weeks ago.

But really all you have to do is watch any playoff game last season and compare those performances by the snap vs. today's second half, and you can see there's something off.

His bull rush lacks power, and he's having a hard time changing direction. Almost as if something's wrong with his knee or ankle?

But like I said, don't take my word for it, just compare the snaps for yourself.

-King- 12-20-2020 09:51 PM

I don't know if I buy that that he has an injury bad enough to make him ineffective for the majority of the season but not bad enough to where they feel they should sit him for at least a week or two.

ping2000 12-20-2020 09:51 PM

Clark is making over $25 million each of the next 3 years, I doubt he’s that overpaid. But thank you to the Saints for re-signing him so Veach could avoid that mistake.

Cheater5 12-21-2020 06:10 AM

He looks like Tamba at the end of his career; like he's running in sand with cinderblocks on his feet. The overall pass rush from our DL was a gesture yesterday for that matter.
