Gordon would have swung at that.

Pinch running for Salvy is likely the right call, but I don't think any Roayls fan wanted him coming out with Gordon/Rios/Esky coming up.

I'm guessing Gore has the green light to go whenever he wants.

Well, he didn't go yard, so there's that...

I think it's still bigger than the risk, though. Gore is just automatic. 99.9% So I'll trade the 0.1 percent risk for a 1 percent chance (or whatever it is) of a wild pitch/passed ball. Plus, hell, there may have been a bigger chance of a wp/pb than Rios getting a hit with Gore on 2B.

Alas, we got hit with -- a very questionable -- 0.1 percent.

There was honestly no reason to steal 3rd with 2 outs regardless of the terrible overturn. But yeah, terrible ****ing overturn.

Maybe Ned thought our only hope was a wild pitch.

Hate this decision.

Should be Wade.

Yeah, a wild pitch is basically it... I guess with how badly Rios has looked though, maybe that was the only hope.

I still think, statistically, we have a better shot of a miracle Rios single than Gore successfully stealing 3rd and then a wild pitch ... But oh well. It's over now

I think Ned thinks Alex Rios is good. If he thought the only hope was a wild pitch, he would pinch hit.

Rios is hot garbage. Gordon sucks in high-pressure situations. Hosmer choked.

Would it change the infield alignment at all? He definitely scores on an infield single from 3b so maybe getting him to 3b gets Hinch to play the IF a little closer in just to avoid a contact play leading to a run on a weak dribbler? At that point, he knows that he can't give up an infield hit so he doesn't play his IF back. Then Rios has a little better chance to punch a nubber through?

There is probably some small offensive advantage gained there, but I still think that's probably a poor green light.
