The deal last year was due to injury. That is not a current issue. Not saying it would not be further in the season but I think we could pull it off for now.

He doesn't HAVE to be better, just equal. Let's put it this way - if we ran the old Statue of Liberty play with Henne, we'd have an actual statue. At some point you have to take the training wheels off and keep someone who's not 37 years old on the roster.

Cutting a player doesn't guarantee you'll get a chance to get him back. Buechele would be plucked off the waiver wire and wouldn't have a chance to be placed on the PS. We already have to cut a promising players. The best solution would be to trade Henne for a 6/7th and an order of nachos.

Darnold went down with a serious ankle injury. True enough he's QB2 for Carolina, but they don't have a whole lot of experience with their QB3/4s.

I'll agree there's not a huge market for Henne, but he'd be easier to re-sign if need be.

If they like Beuchele but fear losing him, gamble with releasing Henne if 2 QB's are all they want to keep. Re-sign Henne if Mahomes goes down during the season. I really think Henne would still be available at that point.

I think what may be a strategy is to put all 3 on the roster, After everybody has cleared waivers and set their rosters move Henne to PS . Then if another team tries to sign him later bring him to the 53. Only problem is that exposes an additional player to waiver claim
