Nick Athan makes statements as fact. You don't see Whitlock writing an article saying "the deal is done with Ty Law, we're just waiting to anounce it". Athan pretends to know something no one else knows, and passes it of as fact. He just flat out lies. And he does it under the guise of journalism.

This isn't a guy that some posters just don't agree with. It's not a guy that occasionally makes a factual error in his articles. He has no credibility, whatsoever. Figure it out. The fact that this poll is suggesting a ban by a large margin right now should be enough to give you the hint.

I voted no because I think his articles are worth a good laugh. I would be in favor of having "Athan" become "Liar" as a filter though. WPI or Warpaint Illustrated could become Random BS Illustrated or such as well.

Jason Whitlock- "Peterson doesnt care about winning, just filling the seats". Its an opinion yes, but its also a slanderous lie designed to stir controversy for his behalf. So you are suggesting that lies should be excused as long as they are expressed through an opinion?
Nick Athan - "the deal is done with Trotter, we're just waiting to anounce it". Its a lie that perhaps was based on opinion, but I also heard two reporters from ESPN state the same thing. So I'm not trying to excuse anyone from lying, nor do I want to promote someone who makes a habit of it. If someone makes a special Athon warning icon I have no issue with that, all I'm trying to say is that a ban on someone who perhaps lies more than the other lies, would be simply be hypocritical.

There's a big difference between a rumor or opinion from a legitimate journalist. Athan has about as much credibility as...pick a name, any name of someone who posts on here. And most of us have enough integrity not to make up stuff. As much as we might be tempted to post our very own "I saw Patrick Surtain at KCI 10 minutes ago!!!one" thread.

I disagree with banning, but am all in favor of some creative filters for the words Athan and WPI.

Automatically rename "Athan" to "Hello - Bullshit Artist on the loose."

I find WPI articles to be highly entertaining. Now that everyone on the Planet is aware of the reliability of the articles, what's the harm getting a good laugh out of them?

Or you can make a new thread, titled "The Athan Bullshit Files" and have the subtitle "WARNING. Viewer Discretion is Advised!"

If Athan is literally making up stuff and not just jumping to conclusions, he's tabloid writer material. I also think that some of the things said and written by "legitimate journalist's" are also of tabloid quality. Of the few articles I read from Athan, I could sense he appeared to be reaching, but I use discernment in everything I read. So again, I agree that such tabloidic writers should be noted, but hey I get a chuckle everytime I wait in line at the grocery store.
