With guest, I can kick them out of my house when I am ready! |

I also believe that the changing of terms (or the PC'ing of the terms) is bent on future acceptance/amnesty of them. If we call them guest workers long enough then maybe the entire populace will see them that way and not try to enforce our borders or hold them accountable for entering the US illegally. |

You people are horrible. You can sit there in your nice legal house, with your nice legal job and complain about these guest workers all you want. Like I said, it's easy for you.
Put yourself in their shoes: if you could enter a better country in a non legally participatory way in order to better your life and the lives of your children, you would. You're nothing but a bunch of hypocrites. |

A little off topic, but I was absolutely floored the other day when I saw an all spanish ad on a local TV (non-spanish) channel. I guess I shouldn't be too shocked though. They're freaking taking over Vegas now. There are whole sections of town that are all Mexican, businesses, signs, everything. And they're all wearing or displaying their Mexican green, white, and red colors. If you have so much pride for Mexico, why not live there? Oh yeah, you're trying to make America "Mexico north".

And people DO want them here. The US has ALWAYS been a nation of immigrants. It's how our population has always grown and it's how our economy thrives. And they provide more money to the US, in terms of business production and some form of payroll tax (even if they don't pay federal income tax, most illegal aliens pay some sort of tax) and taxes on goods bought here. Illegals make up about 8.8% of the people on welfare, compared to 7.9% of American citizens, so it's not a HUGE difference. But it's the principal. They need to follow the laws. And that is STILL getting away from the point that the term "alien" is correctly applied in reference to ANYONE from ANY COUNTRY that is non-native to the United States. |

Don't you lump us in with those who don't have the integrity, drive, or pride to do so. |

But at the same time, we must tighten border security. Not to keep immigrants out, but to keep out those who wish to do this country harm. Unfortunately for those who wish to come here freely and have no ill-will, this hurts them. But sorry, Charlie. This country won't be around for them to enjoy the benefits if we don't take some measures to protect who comes in. It's an absolute catch-22. |
