teams like the jets and broncos fire their coaches when they win 8 or 9 games. yet the chiefs, who won 2 games, are sitting here with their thumbs up their asses.

i cannot fathom how anybody could possibly think he deserves another chance.

You cannot fathom it, because You have not been swallowing Carl's man juice year after year.

Bob Gretz is clear evidence that swallowing Carl's man juice has a side effect of making you an incompetent reerun.

And if Pioli keeps Herm, then Pioli is nothing more than Carl redux and wont ever take this franchise anywhere...

Despite his reputation Belichick is a pretty classy guy. But just because he tried to cheer up Herm doesn't mean Herm deserves to or has a chance of keeping his job.

If you had to play Herm first game of the season what would you tell him?

There's nothing to be gained from not blowing the whole staff up.

Gretz Quote: "But there’s also little doubt that Edwards was part of the discussions with Pioli leading up to an agreement between the two parties."

WTF? So Clark invited Herm to sit in on the Pioli interview and negotiations and then give his approval of Pioli. Okay. God forbid this organization ever has to fire anyone.

I like how Gretz spends the entire article repeating that it's doubtful that Pioli will keep Herm but then gives us all this supposedly inside information as to why Herm may get to stay. It's articles like these that make me want to bludgeon Gretz with a pitchfork.

Talking Can mentioned that Gretz must be a big fan of failure. I totally agree. All this guy does is promote ideas and people that are absolute failures. Then he goes to the HOF presentations and the first thing he mentions to the voters is why Derrick Thomas was a failure at being a run-stopper, but that he belongs in the HOF despite that.

fuck you, Gretz.

Herm being there was a negotiating tool for Clark.

He wanted Pioli to know just how much of a "clean slate" he'd be working with in Kansas City.

I'll consider it only after Rufus Dawes has told me to.

Hey Gretz,

Herm already got 2 chances. One with the Jets and one with the Chiefs.

Guess what? He brought both franchises into the pits and made them losers. What else more does he need to prove? A 3rd chance?

1) He's lame duck, so you'd almost have to give him an extension for him to be credible as a coach. No way Pioli does that.

2) He's all about the cover-2. We're not going to be a cover-2 team anymore. How would that work?

Point #1 is exactly right. Pioli MUST decide Edwards is the dog he wants to hunt with. If he brings him back he HAS to give him a contract extension. Why?
If he doesn't and:

---KC gets off to a bad start (again), Herm is the definition of a lame duck and may even get the axe mid-season. Players are unlikely to play for a coach in that situation.

---KC actually improves and makes the playoffs. Now what? Do you re-sign him? Fire him after getting to the playoffs. No.

So it is quite simple. If Herm isn't let go, then he will be with the team a long time.

I believe what Gretz mean't to say was the Herman ****ing Edwards was a subject in the discussions between Clark Hunt and Scott Pioli.

I believe that portion of the discussion went something like this:

Clark, "So what are your thoughts on our current coach in KC?"

SP, "What was Carl on when he traded a draft pick for that dumbass?".
