Chill dude, Just because there are much worse things doesn't mean we can't talk about the other smaller douchbag stories. :shake: |
This is where sports can be bad.
The Dallas school is terrible, has been terrible, and always will be terrible. but you know what? Those girls get to put on a uniform and play two games a week. Many times that is good enough. The Covenant team showed poor form in this score runup. They didn't get better doing it. They didn't learn anything from it. They simply got to be bullies for an evening. A guy at my high school, who was a state caliber wrestler, set the school pin record (in time). It was against a girl who was wrestling in her first match. Do you think he is proud of that? I'd much prefer to look back on my athletic career and be one of the girls who carried the opposing hitter around the bases last year (when she hit the HR, but got hurt...and her own teamates couldn't touch her, by rule), than any girl on this team. Sports should be about getting better. High school sports should be about getting better, but also learning. No one in that winning lockerrroom learned a thing about sportsmanship. |
The more I think about this, the more baffled I am that not a single player, asst. coach or parent had the class to tell the HC to cool it.
It's almost too cliche to be a hollywood script... the rich private religious school beating up on the school for problem kids. |

I think the biggest problem is that nobody involved acknowledges the basic fact that this tiny little school simply does not have enough bodies to field a competitive team. Period. Why does nobody get this? They have a 40% participation rate (8 out of 20) and still can't win a game, ever. Why roll these poor kids out as cannon fodder every game? It's just not right.
I'll bet continuing this disgrace has more to do with adults justifying their salaries than anything else. |

The coach for the winning team was fired yesterday after sending an email to the local newspaper saying he would not apologize, and his team played with class, and honor.

Herm might have found the perfect job opening... a place that will revere him for keeping the score down.
