I understand. I was laying it out just for the Lions, but it might do something else for the Chiefs which I was going to put in as an alternative before I clicked "submit" by mistake. I was going to say that it might also put the Chiefs in a position where they might be able to trade down if Sanchez is the team's preferred quarterback, because a team that wanted Stafford but wasn't willing to pay for the #1 slot might be more willing to pay for the #3 slot. After all, if either QB gets past the Chiefs, the board is set up in such a way that the quarterback could conceivably fall all the way to the Jets if no trades got made.

It was the rhetorical brilliance of the Roberto Alomar tree.

Oh, I'm not suggesting that he isn't, Mr. Just Passin' By. He may very well be the most realest deal of all times. The thing is that nobody really knows for sure. Granted, he played well last season, but look at the talent around him - not to mention the coaching staff. NE has successfully positioned him as something very special and other teams are sniffing at the bait. It's a remarkable and admirable effort on their part and franchising him was icing on the Cassel cake.

Of course, Mr. philfree is right, but even considering the current quarterback shortage, NE has promoted him both subtly and skillfully enough to make The Donald proud.

Would be a win/win for KC if this trade came about. Similar skill sets with one having more experience. Think the right pick for KC is QB, easier to fill the many holes in later rounds. Doesnt mean I dont think Thigpen cant and shouldnt be developed, but its a position you cant be wrong on. IMO, the ceiling on Stafford/Sanchez are higher than Thigpen's, which means you upgrade.

I'm with you on this. I watched every Patriots game and I still don't know if he's legitimate. As a 'scout/GM' for other teams, I'd feel a lot more confident if he'd beaten Pittsburgh. I know that he had the team in position to open that game up until Moss dropped a sure touchdown pass, but I'd liked to have seen him rally the team to overcome that.

A similar thing happened in the Chargers game earlier in the season. To me, it's probably the biggest red flag I'd have if I were thinking of trading for him.

The Pats would MUCH rather **** the Jets

If we can get Stafford, we pull the trigger. I heard Stafford had dinner with the Lions last night, sounds like the Lions may have made up their minds.

WTF is Stafford in Africa or something? Someone needs to tell that kid it's not safe to be eating with wild animals, didn't he learn anything from the chimp thing? He needs to stop taking risks like that we need him under center next season!

there's little doubt they intend to upgrade at the QB position. just depends on how they intend to do it. Cassell isnt a horrible option, but they have a vet they can afford to sit one of the rookies behind and still grab a LT with their 2nd 1st rd pick, then grab a LB at the top of the 2nd. Minnesota is the team that thinks they are a QB away from a serious run that makes a play for Cassell.
