He was getting clocked because our offensive line was a swinging gate--Trent Green also went from borderline pro bowler to ineffective behind the same line. And he got injured because he was getting knocked on his ass way more often than a QB should.
Not to mention that he was a backup QB thrown into a starting role--he was never supposed to be a guy who could lead your team to the playoffs. He was supposed to be a veteran who came off the bench and helped the team get a win or two when your starter is out for some period of time. Huard played that role admirably.
I don't understand why Chiefs' fans have become so ridiculously brutal to their own players. It's not like Surtain, who came in, made a shitload of money, and was expected to be a difference maker. Huard was supposed to be a backup and he played that role very well. |
