It is reasonable to assume he's got at least one good year left in him, so they would have had that plus the end of last season.

If it works, the GM is a hero. But even if it doesn't, I think it would have been an acceptable risk.

Now, with another year gone? Perhaps not.

Gonzo is a special, freakish player. There's no doubt about this.

Last year I would have taken the second rounder for him. This year, though, you're right; the same value isn't going to be there.

Thus, with a new QB in the stable, he's too valuable of a security blanket, which is needed for the continued development of our team, to part with for a later-round pick.

Still doesn't change the fact that he needs to shut the **** up.

I like Tony and wish for him to retire as a Chief, but I'm on board with most everyone else here. I understand you want to go to a championship contender, but you can look directly at Jason Taylor and the Dolphins on how quickly things can change in the NFL. Of course, I don't want to blatantly state that we're going to the Super Bowl (or the playoffs) anytime soon....but things can change like *snap*...that.

Also, I'm very sick of athletes UNDER CONTRACT bitching and complaining about where THEY want to go. The front office has ponied up the dough and you signed that contract of your own free will. Nobody owes you shit. Put on some pads and keep making it hell over the middle for defenders.

The inmates keep trying to run the asylum.

This is getting old...and fast.

Clark Hunt has made a hell of an effort at changing the culture of this franchise with Pioli, Haley, and his commitment to building a winning organization.

None of these players give the Chiefs great options for moving them off the roster. Gonzalez is still a stud, but his time is getting shorter by the day. Johnson's off the field troubles are going to keep teams at a distance. Waters isn't exactly a spring chicken himself.

The three of them would be GREAT pieces, even if only temporarily, to this team over the next couple years.

Suck it up gents and play ball.
Damn.

If you want to change the culture generally it means getting rid of players who were the "leaders" of the culture you are trying to change.

Ever since Tony gave up meat, he's been asking for a trade. :hmmm:

Gonzo and LJ, if they can fetch a couple of decent picks, are Gonzo.

No kidding, 22 players off the street could have won two games....

Clark might just be adding trade value by stating that he doesn't plan to trade Tony. If somebody would offer more than "fair trade", I'm sure Pioli will be all over it. Gonzo's one of my favorite all time Chiefs on and expecially off the field. But, let's just say on draft day that somebody's on the board that we need, and that team wants Tony, pull the trigger.

Trade LJ and TG. By the time we're good they will both be shells of their current selves (ie two yrs from now).

This!

And Mecca is 100% right, if you want to change shit, you gotta change all that shit.

I love Tony too, any REAL (tm) fan would, but I can see them trading him for the right deal. It's the right time for Tony and the Chiefs to part ways, for the right deal of course.

Sure-Oz 03-25-2009 06:23 AM

Trade him, get atleast a 3rd for him
