Anyone notice that Farnsworth has his era down to 3 now?

Please god let him keep that up and have some team want him at the trade deadline. It'd be great to free up that $4.5 million for next year. Anything else in return would be icing.

They are going to have to put him in leverage situations soon. If he keeps that up in leverage spots (like a tight 8th), then I don't want to trade him, no matter the size of the deal. The rest of the bullpen looks like hell and we need someone to help.

However, given that we probably will not catch up with the Tigers, I wouldn't complain if we got a decent hitting prospect.

Great game by Meche. Although this is also why he drives people insane.

Pretty much.

He only averages like 12 wins a year for his career.

Hes way too inconsistent for the money hes making.

Greinke tomorrow, hopefully the bats have woke up and not only for a 2 week stretch like earlier in the season.

Oliver Perez, who has won 12 games once in his entire career, signed a $12 million a year contract this offseason.

How about Carlos Silva? Signed a $12 million a year contract before last season and he won four games for the Mariners last year.

Jeff Suppan, who has finished .500 each of the last three seasons, is making $10.5.

You pay big money for starting pitching. Yeah, people were shocked Meche was signed for $11 mill when he was, but if he was a free agent next year, I bet he'd get at least $14 mill.

Has there ever been a pitcher to suddenly figure things out in the middle of a season at age 33?

I'm going to play the odds and say he'll return to form, at least next year if not immediately this year. And given the cheaper, better options out there for bullpen arms, I'd rather have the $4.5 mil to play with.

Hammock Parties 06-10-2009 11:35 PM

so gil had one hell of a game... FINALLY!!! hopefully this game wasnt about pavono coming back to his usual shitty form, and more the Royals coming back into their own offensively

doomy3 06-10-2009 11:37 PM

Nice, too bad we couldn't save some of that offense for a game when we really need it.

I would always trade relievers if I could get a good return. They're too inconsistent from year to year. Example A: Mahay. Nails last year and shit now.

I'm guessing if they continue to avoid any pressure situations for Farnsworth, it's obviously an attempt to get some team to bite on a trade offer, with the Royals desperate to get rid of his terrible contract, which Moore just gave him, ironically enough. Oops.

Dude has proven time and again throughout his career that he's a head case. When the going gets tough, he ****ing melts.
