Prior to Sunday, I thought Denver had no chance if Orton was forced to pass often... the last thing I wanted to see was Orton with 30+ attempts. I figured if that happened "the worst would come true". The bottom line is that I didn't give him the respect he obviously deserved.
Many are blaming Brady for the passes he missed and making a few weird decisions... but many are also not giving Orton the praise for making great decisions and some great passes. The passing attack wasn't littered with dink and dunks, they took legit shots down field and across the middle and he put the ball right where it needed to be the majority of the time.
Orton will never be confused with Peyton and that's fine... but don't pass him off as Peter Tom Willis... the guy can play. Interestingly enough, yesterday was the first game he played without the glove and insert to protect his finger. I liked what he did a great deal.
If he can play like that going forward... who needs Cutler? Winning is more than just having a prolific QB... this team is winning because of the defense and the sound play of the offense. They're not in line to win a scoring title and that's fine... because the defense isn't letting the other team be prolific either and this is something that Denver hasn't had in quite a while.
