I felt the same way when I read your origional post. I've been a fan of the Chiefs since the mid 60's; probably longer than you've been alive. If 45 plus years of watching the Chiefs makes me a "bandwagon" fan in the eyes of some a**holes on ChiefsPlanet, then so be it. I am just sick and tired of losing, bad teams, bad coaching, and bad management. If I don't have something better to do on Sundays I will still watch the Chiefs. But I don't plan the whole day around them like I used to; I don't really expect them to win; and I find myself really not caring anymore when they lose. And as I said before, I find that really sad.

I'm in a similar boat. I'm still the fan I was in 2003 and throughout the 90s, but right now they're just so painful, so uninteresting to watch. It is literally painful and mind-numbing to sit through a Chiefs game at this point. For that reason, I don't subject myself to the games. Not much, anyway. But I still read ChiefsPlanet every day and keep up with everything as much as I always have. Still give my opinion on the draft and other such things.

Above all, football from day one has been entertainment for me. The Chiefs at this point are the exact opposite of entertainment.

Funnily enough, though, I've also found very little pleasure in watching other games this year. Football (NFL) in general is a little boring right now. I think only the Chiefs can bring me back in.

If we win this game and the Broncos lose to Pittsburgh. We still have a shot at the title as we will have the opportunity still to beat Denver twice, SD and Oakland. We got the Bills Brown and Bengals in the mix so if this is one of those 2nd half of the season turn around thingy teams ????

Hell yeah, lets get a victory. It's not over till it's over !

I used to get excited going anytime I was going to see a Chiefs game, but I'm headed to the game today and it feels more like I'm going to the dentist to have my wisdom teeth removed.

Interesting side bar to the origional question on this post. Right now almost 1 in 4 of the respondents have stated that they don't care about this game. And this is ChiefsPlanet - a home for some of the most loyal and rabid fans the Chiefs have. Can you imagine what the ordinary fans are feeling right now? The Chiefs have a lot of rebuilding to do and not all of it pertains to players. They have to give a reason for the fans to come back.

2003 was definitely a breaking point for me, especially since the Jayhawks had been a lock to beat Syracuse that year... since then it's been all about entertainment for me, which is why I don't pay as much attention to everything else. People get so wrapped up in speculation (and I got too wrapped up in it), it's ridiculous. Mock drafts and speculation doesn't interest me.... preseason over-analysis, gameday story lines that read like TMZ, post game over-analysis of single games.... I guess it all just got old after so many years.

I certainly hope Arrowhead's atmosphere one day returns to what it once was, but the 'true-fandom' is gone. I'm just not the glutton for punishment that I used to be.

And I agree, there seems to be fewer and fewer interesting games in the NFL each year... Saturdays is where it's at right now. Well, except for the B12 North. :banghead:

I only watch college football because it's the feeding ground for the NFL.

And it seemed to me that there have been more good matchups on Sunday this year than there have been years past, especially in the first three or four weeks.

I'll watch until I get bored. Happens a lot lately.

Coogs 11-08-2009 09:39 AM

I'm in the old timers group. I have been faithfully watching Chiefs football for 40 years. While these past 3 years have been difficullt, it is not like this is something new for us. We survived the 70's and 80's. Being eliminated from the playoff picture before the bye week makes it tough to get real excited about the individual games in some respect, but there are things to hold your attention. Player development is what interests me from here on in. That and coaching improvement.

I have wanted a makeover for this team for several years now, and knew the makeover was going to be painful. Seen 'em before. I'm not sure the makeover started down the path that I (or many others here) had hoped for, but it has started. For that I am greatful.

I'll watch what I can, hope for the best, look for improvement, and probably bitch about the bad things once it is over. And look forward to the day when things are good again.

cabletech94 11-08-2009 10:05 AM

Don't forget....the Chiefs historically don't do well in Florida. No matter how good (or bad) the team that they are, or who they play.

Red Beans 11-08-2009 10:13 AM

Hope. The beginning of the week after a loss, I say that I don't give a shit, and I mean it. Then by the grace of the football gods I start feeling that little twinge on Thursday. Finally by Saturday I'm ready again. Not necessarily ready for a win or a loss, but just ready to support my team. I'm ready to be a Chiefs fan.

LOCOChief 11-08-2009 10:14 AM

yeah, 35 years of "caring" not about to stop now.

I love college football... even with it's completely screwed up postseason. Actually, I haven't see much great football from either the NFL or college this year, mostly because the Big 12 North sucks and I haven't been paying attention the past few weeks... and I've missed the big SEC games.

I don't know why I LOLed at this, but I was ready for you to keep going and say something like, Chiefs football, my anti-drug.

wazu 11-08-2009 10:29 AM

I care. Rooting hard for a win. We've got to pick up a few more somewhere, and this looks like a potential opportunity.

CHIEFS58 11-08-2009 10:34 AM

Honestly, if you dont care, then why are you on here or even associate yourself with the Chiefs? If you dont care, youre not a fan and need to go **** yourself.
