LOL...not even close. Their OC is gone. Biggest piece of the puzzle..and their defense is gone, but played well.

ROFL These are classic. That was a horrible throw.

I wish he would make one of those giffs for every pass Cassel has thrown that poorly. It would shut this place down.

Because I'm pretty sure you just stated this.

Me.

I will always track the trajectory of his career, much like I have with Rodgers and Flacco.

Just as I will when we overlook (obviously) talented signal callers in future draft classes.

I mean, you could just as easily track the careers of Rivers, Eli Manning, Ryan, or Stafford...because they all look to be legit QB's and are an important part of the NFL...but the Chiefs didn't really have a shot at any of those guys, so that might take the fun out of it.

I have an interest in the Chiefs, first and foremost. And, yes, there are players who will always be a tangential part of the conversation with respect to this team. Just as the '83 draft class has been talked to death.

Ryan and Stafford are equally as interesting for me, mainly because of how they were perceived by a decent chunk of the fan base (as it relates to CP).

Your post made it seem like following the "what ifs" in the NFL is strange. Perhaps. But I think that's what makes sports interesting. And this is what I was alluding to when I said "this is not the case" or whatever.

But, to an ancillary point, if the Chiefs ceased to exist, I would be watching just as much NFL football, following the league just as closely.

Same here. At least then I would be free to watch all of the good games that are on.

Wrong, Cassel had "proven" he could play in the league so he was a now move. Now we might have had to wait for our team to get built, but Cassel is not a 2nd year player, he's 27 years old and has been a backup to one of the best in the league for years now. Cassel was supposed to be ready from the start. It was a give me that $100 now rather than having a chance at $10000, $100 or $50 in two years kind of thing.

EDIT: IMO.

The team is Awful and I have reserved judgment on Matt because of that but it might be that he sucks too. I hope that is not the case and I know that he hasn't been in a good situation BUT he hasn't looked like a great QB stuck on a crappy team either. He has looked like a crappy QB on a crappy team.

This. If he was even a decent QB we would all know it, because we would see better play out of him. I dont see anything that tells me he is a decent QB.

Some of us expected him to show at least some kind of pocket presence, and be able to make simple passes to wide open targets. (see the GoChiefs gif)

I hope the guy gets it, and figures it out, but he appears to be getting worse. He just plain sucks ass right now.

which sadly indicates that he is probably a support type QB not a franchise type.

I'm coming to the same conclusion. And you don't build a franchise around a role-play QB. You do it around a franchise QB.

Fair enough. I'm a Chiefs fan foremost, and a fan of the NFL second. If the Chiefs ceased to exist, I'd watch considerably less NFL football; and probably wouldn't have a vested interest in any player unless they came out of KU. It would probably be about the same as my NBA viewing goes. I watch big games and sometimes I'll flip through and stop on an NBA game for a while and watch...but if KC had a team, I'd probably watch a shit-ton of NBA games.

I don't mind studying the past, because it's the only way we can forecast the future; but I'm not one to dwell on anything and ask a bunch of "What if's?". Just not my style. But to each his own. 5 years from now, whether Sanchez, Flacco, or Rodgers are winning SB's or selling insurance; I won't be wondering what would have happened had we drafted them instead of Player X. I'll just be studying our current roster in hopes the players we have can improve and get the job done. And looking towards the next offseason/draft for players that can help our team.

Just different mentalities I suppose.

Cassel proved to be servicable and reliable for one of the all time great offenses. He sat and studied behind one of the greatest QBs of all time for 3 years and then played in 1 and he is this crappy. Aaron Rodgers came out gun slinging after 3 years studying behind Brett Favre (also one of the great QBs of all time.) The difference is Rodgers puts up monster numbers. Cassel impresses us when he throws over 100 yds.

Yep. But that's what makes this place great.
