that "challenge" is complete BS. if no one has ever completed it, it shouldn't be recognized as a legit "challenge", and it shouldn't be on a national TV show.

"Here's my $250,000 challenge - finish 27 pounds of burnt ends, 3 pounds of fries, 32 oz glass of gravy, and chug a handle of Jack"

Yeah, there's been quite a few I figured he'd no way finish, but he does. And then there are some that I'm thinking to myself, "'Well, that's nothing. I can do that." But they're usually the basket of half of dozen wings loaded with the world's ungodliest and hottest spices, rubs, and sauces that humans should stay very, very far away from. Still, it's only six of them, I'll think to myself. But when you see the poor saps who attempt to devour even one of them, you now know why they'll be lucky to make it to the third one.

The one time I knew, without a doubt, he'd throw up was when he did the milkshake challenge in some St. Louis soda stand. He had to guzzle down a dozen milk shakes. The problem was, and he should have known this himself, is that he mixed 'em up with 12 different milkshakes. He probably would have finished them had he did 4 chocolates, 4 vanillas, and 4 strawberries or something like that. Instead, he guzzled some bizarre concoctions of various milk shake flavors and you could see the pain he was enduring. He looked at the camera and then ran out the back to puke like a drunken frat boy.

Anyway, I saw the show and he gave KC some serious BBQ lovin' saying it was the best around. And you can tell he was really digging Stroud's. It was a good show.

All that show accomplished was making me crave Stroud's. I haven't been there in forever.

That was a really good episode until they got to Poppa Bob's. That challenge is a complete ripoff. Take off the burgers at least. A pound and a half of burgers is pointless and makes the sandwhich even drier. It's clear Poppa Bob is just a money grubbing salesman. I can tell why I've never heard about the place and I've lived here my whole life.

Honestly, it should have like a two hour time limit. It seems like the dude wanted to make it impossible....meh...I guess he succeeded. I don't see many people even trying it because it is obviously not possible by anyone except maybe Joey Chestnut.

Those challenges are a gimmick anyway.

Stroud's.

Never in my life thought I'd be genuinely pumped to see a mere glimpse of green beans in a TV preview. But watching the 'minor league baseball' ep yesterday afternoon, I saw those beauties and actually yelled out loud.

I don't think anyone has ever accomplished this challenge.

THIS.

I thought they could have found a better food challenge in KC.

Sam Hall 08-12-2010 07:42 AM

I thought Oklahoma Joe's burnt ends stole the show. Those looked amazing.

"90% lunchmeat" based off of Zarda's and Brokecks is beyond me. Do you know that the KC area has 90-100 BBQ places open at any given time? Two lunchmeat places is not 90%, it is 2%.

You've been to the incredible OK Joe's and L.C.'s. Go back. Also consult this list (http://economy.kansascity.com/?q=node/2070) and pick names at random.

cool; thanks for the list.

Maybe that was the problem? Maybe against the advice of his research staff, he picked it out himself because he thought he could be the first one to complete the challenge?

I'm sure there are a few restaurants in the KC area that have a steak challenge, but it's possible he won't do steaks. I think I've only seen him do one steak challenge in all of his episodes. There could be a lot of reasons they picked out Papa Bob's that we don't know of. I bet he wanted to be the first to win the challenge, no matter how difficult and ridiculous it was.

Theolotus 08-12-2010 08:04 AM

HAHAHA

I was watching a rerun yesterday and complaining that he went to Donkey Town. Turned it off and missed the KC episode.
