Yup. The union has no power and the owners have the most visible mouthpiece for their negotiations--their stooge Goodell.

Except Luck has NFL talent. Locker was all hype and was exposed this last year.

Mr. Flopnuts 01-06-2011 02:12 PM

Good. Denver probably won't get an opportunity to get anywhere near him now.

Oh sure, but the players are about to be locked out. They're not exactly dictating terms here.

They're going to have to give something up and if it means losing the later contract leverage of higher draft bonuses for the top 10 picks in the draft - well they'll let that go.

Ultimately it's just not something immediate enough for the NFLPA to worry about. They'll absolutely sell those rookies out.

Same here.

I kind of hope he does just for making such a stupid and arrogant decision.

Absolutely, the vets don't give a shit about rookie salaries.

Completely stupid decision, Carolina is a nice place to be geographically speaking. Football wise they have some nice pieces in place. I bet his goofy looking ass will regret it next year when he is stuck in Buffalo or Cleveland. You never stay when you are guaranteed the #1 overall pick to a decent team/city/state.

Dumb dumb dumb

Also true.

He's going to look at Gabbert slinging it down in Carolina while he's freezing his ass off in Buffalo and getting driven into frozen sod every Sunday.

This was just a poor decision made by a shortsighted kid, IMO.

You think Gabbert's the new number one?

Wanna bet that Luck regresses next season?

It will be almost impossible for him to duplicate this season's success. The kid will be good again next season, but he's going to take at least a small step backwards. If he does, flags will go up.

This is just an absolute mind****.

The school announced that Luck wouldn't be made available for comment.

Take $50M (let's say) and go get your butt handed to you with the Panthers... or, stay at Stanford - possibly get hurt - or possibly win the Heisman and a National Title - either way still likely the #1 pick in 2012.

You walk away with your degree and still a boat load of guaranteed money. If it's even 1/2 the money he leaves on the table now - does it really matter in the grand scheme of things?

Either way, the kid is smart and will have a good quality of life.
