He basically has 3 years and 30 million left on that deal and he just turned 29.

I know they can turn around and sign Freeney, Osi or another guy...but I hope they don't trade him and get another first.

Given the deals given out so far in FA for ends, I doubt anyone would want to take on his contract

Unless he agrees to a large paycut he will be a FA tomorrow at like 4

I'm not saying it's a bad thing at all, but Elway has really just taken over the Broncos in a way that I did not expect. Our old GM (Xanders) came across as kind of a dumbass but it seemed to me like the FO was going to be a three headed monster of VP/GM/HC. It's pretty much Elway running the show with guidance from Joe Ellis.

That's what I noticed. I think that injury made him lose a step.

No it was the fact that when the Broncos switched to the 34 under McDaniels is when he flourished but when they went back to the 43 under Fox is when he became mediocre at best. He is a much better player in a 34 scheme.:thumb:

Xanders never was calling the personnel shots. He was strictly a numbers guy taking care of the cap.

If we didn't already have two good rushbackers, I wouldn't be mad if we moved a pick for a guy like Dumervil.

They've been running a combination of fronts. The big thing with Dumervil is that he has a lot of moves he can use from a traditional 4-3 DE spot, but we're using him out wide a lot when we go 4-3, so he's limited. They do it to try to get the opposing offense to slide coverage and widen/open up.

Yeah, McDaniels pretty much just ran him over. Elway called him out on that publicly in a press conference. Xanders did not respond to the challenge and was let go.

Kind of like Pioli, now we have a combo of Dorsey and Reid who are going for it. We may not be a serious contender but damnit theyre trying and thats all i can ask for right now

Sure. You're at the same spot we were a few years ago. Crappy FO is looking like it's fixed, time to build the franchise back up.

I think I heard from a Bronco friend at the office that Elway said that when he took over, the organization was worse than he's ever seen it before.

It's kind of funny. Thinking about Hunt and Bowlen. Neither one of them want to run the team. I saw a pic of our FO after Fox was hired, they were preparing for the draft. Everybody is sitting at table with suits on, ready to conduct some srs bzns. Bowlen is hanging out in a t-shirt and jogging shorts just kind of ****ing around like, "Hey guys. Was the draft today? Holy shit! Are these donuts for anybody or can I grab one of those jelly filled bastards?"

I believe it.

I'll be bummed to see him go if that happens, but if they can get a viable and reliable replacement at a better price point - so be it. There's no doubt he was overpaid.

I'm just curious what the market puts as a price on him if he does become a FA. Would he get that $ elsewhere or possibly just accept lower because he's upset with Denver? I dunno. One might think he could look at the bigger picture of what they're positioned to do and say "I can make this work", but that rarely happens either.

I just don't know if the contract he has now will be out there on the open market.
