He basically has 3 years and 30 million left on that deal and he just turned 29.
I know they can turn around and sign Freeney, Osi or another guy...but I hope they don't trade him and get another first. |

Unless he agrees to a large paycut he will be a FA tomorrow at like 4 |
I'm not saying it's a bad thing at all, but Elway has really just taken over the Broncos in a way that I did not expect. Our old GM (Xanders) came across as kind of a dumbass but it seemed to me like the FO was going to be a three headed monster of VP/GM/HC. It's pretty much Elway running the show with guidance from Joe Ellis.

It's kind of funny. Thinking about Hunt and Bowlen. Neither one of them want to run the team. I saw a pic of our FO after Fox was hired, they were preparing for the draft. Everybody is sitting at table with suits on, ready to conduct some srs bzns. Bowlen is hanging out in a t-shirt and jogging shorts just kind of ****ing around like, "Hey guys. Was the draft today? Holy shit! Are these donuts for anybody or can I grab one of those jelly filled bastards?"

I believe it. |
I'll be bummed to see him go if that happens, but if they can get a viable and reliable replacement at a better price point - so be it. There's no doubt he was overpaid.
I'm just curious what the market puts as a price on him if he does become a FA. Would he get that $ elsewhere or possibly just accept lower because he's upset with Denver? I dunno. One might think he could look at the bigger picture of what they're positioned to do and say "I can make this work", but that rarely happens either. I just don't know if the contract he has now will be out there on the open market. |
