I've paid no attention to the RGIII situation. What's the nominal reason for benching him? Is it poor performance, some type of ego management, or are they taking the Madden game route of "saving him until next year"?

He was inactivated for poor performance. Any talk of it having to do with race is silly. Shanahan says its because he's worried about him getting hurt in the last few games and missing out on another full offseason. He says off seasons are valuable to the growth of a young QB.

They wouldn't do this to Luck because Luck can actually throw the ball. RG3 is shit without his mobility. Shit like this is the reason racism still exists, it's so ignorant.

Well a story broke last week that Shannahan almost quit last year before the playoffs because he didn't like the special treatment Dan Snyder was giving to RG3. So people are kind of viewing it as an authority statement by Shannahan. At least that is how I have interpreted it.
