Hampton Stevens, such euro heritage, knows little to nothing about the Native American tribes, but feels the need to pretend to care/or know about Indian heritage. Why doesn't be care about the patriots? I mean "patriots" are the names of many Englishmen who came to America to escape tyranny of "better" Englishmen.

And how many "Vikings", "raiders", or "buccaneers" committed more or equally heinous acts than scalping a vanquished foe? But are less offensive terms today?

I have Nordic heritage and no longer want the Minnesota football team to be called Vikings..........

The word "chief" dates back to 14th century europe. It's not even a ****ing native amercian word.

I was born in this country, born in Kansas so that makes me 100% Native American and I'm not offended by the Chiefs or Redskins or Indians.

I am offended however of all the drunks that live on reservations.

This is the kind of guy that goes around calling for change not because he actually thinks it's the right thing, but because he wants to be able to say, "Look at me. I am leading the charge against _____."

With a name like Hampton; I'm highly impressed he could write this article with all the dicks inside of him.

I'm beyond sick of caring about who is offended by the word "Chiefs". If you're offended by that word, then off yourself, you're not strong enough to live in the 21st century. People are offended about the dumbest shit. Butthurt ****s.

When did pawnmower come back? I must have missed something. Haven't really been paying attention, catching up on housework after dealing with the broken leg since february. Welcome back!

This is a word that is commonly given as a
nickname which incorrectly labels Indian
men. The cultural equivelant would be to
nickname all white men 'Prez' or 'King'.
The term 'chief' itself is incorrect. Indian
leaders were never 'chiefs', but headmen,
or clan mothers, and so on. Not 'chiefs'.
Native leaders were highly disrespected by
the USA. So calling someone 'Chief',
is just a way to continue that disrespect....
Wow, so you're telling me they want a word that Native Americans never even used to be taken away? **** that.

Maybe it's just me but I don't see how the name "Chiefs" could be considered derogatory? It is honorable if anything. Also I was in mic-o-say and this guy has no ****ing idea what it means.

Because it is supposedly "used out of context" by stupid white people, according to things I've read.
