Mets fans are like Diet New York. Only in their case, they get everything that sucks about New York but none of the cool shit. I respect their fans, though. They're one of the few teams who have had just as little to cheer about over the past 30 years as the Royals.

(Of course, if you want to go back 40 years, only the Yankees have won the AL pennant more times than Kansas City. /hooray for cherry picked stats)

In all seriousness, it's not like Royals fans hate the Mets or that either of these teams are villains in baseball or anything. I'd probably want the Mets to win if they make it back to the Series some other time. I cheered for them in 2000 like the rest of the world. I was really wanting them to beat the Cardinals that year it all ended on the Beltran strikeout. If we'd lost to Toronto there'd be no bigger Mets fan this week than me. I don't mind them at all.

It wouldn't be bad for either them to come here or vice versa. We'd probably learn a lot about each others' teams anyway.

One of them seems upset at my 9/11 reference. Yeah, I probably shouldn't have said that as it was a totally uncool day.

I've been reading their board for a few days now. I mean, **** the Mets, it's our time, but I like those guys. I can't help it. They're passionate, knowledgeable, and funny. They remind me of us in ways, minus some of the brash, 4chan of sports boards type feel.
