Godzilla (2014) was well-received and early reviews indicate Kong is pretty good.

They aren't the same thing.

It's like having a Flash Gordon and Indiana Jones shared universe. Could it happen?

Sure.

But, why?...

Godzilla v. Kong was done back in the 60's. They powered Kong up by having electricity revitalize him after Godzilla had kicked his ass. I believe it is still the #1 ticket selling Godzilla movie of all time, in Japan, although my memory of that could be wrong.

Toho wanted to both make a sequel and build a franchise around Kong (as they did with Godzilla) but, apparently, RKO choose not to let them.

Kong is going to grow bigger for King Kong vs Godzilla, snd wait for the end credits for a final scene

Excellent

I truly enjoyed it

It was like Apocalypse Now combined with a giant monster movie. A mashup we have not seen before. Very well made and I enjoyed the 1970s touches like the styles, music and old tech

Fun stuff. Better than it had any right to be

Agreed. Lots of action with no slow parts to speak of. A tad of comedy infused at times.

I hope they pull John C Reilly in on some of the future movies. He makes good comic relief and he actually played the scenes where he had to be serious very well.

Saw this last night and really enjoyed it.

Stay for the credits- they set up the upcoming rumble with Godzilla.

Should be epic.

I don't think Kong has a chance- but we will find out who is the real King of Monsters.

Finally saw Kong tonight; good, bordering on great movie. It was a fun movie. But a few items...

Cons -
The heavy hand "hubris of man" that was pounded into the viewer got old
Too many red shirts, you could pick who was going to die and who was going to live

But lots of good...

Pros -
Well acted on all parts.
Good pace, lots of action, cut to the chase
They didn't shoehorn a...
Spoiler!

And the end credit scene basically turned me into a 10 year old again. I damn near jumped out of my seat at the end.

I thought it was entertaining but kind of boring, despite all the action, and the humor missed me throughout the movie.

I'm excited for the showdown with Godzilla and all the other megaspecies though.

My son was dying to see this so i took him this weekend and we watched it in 3D. I went into the movie with high expectations and this movie exceeded my expectations. Great cast, great action sequences and the CGI was masterful.

The scene after the credits didn't hint anything towards that at all.

Spoiler!
