That way Berry gets to see a true market value and the Chiefs get to match or get to negotiate a trade for draft picks. Maybe Berry won't be so pissed if he sees the offers from other teams. Chiefs will also get to see his league value.

i called this early on. :toast:

best way to go.

Sweet Jesus, I hope this report is true.

I've never understood this forum's fascination with Poe. For a guy that is supposedly dominant, he sure gets swallowed up by single blockers a lot - and ends up on his ass a lot as well.

Christ, people here think he's the second coming of Haloti Ngata in his prime.

Nope.

I like Poe, but his job was to eat up blockers (allowing LBers to feast) and stop the run. On a team whose weaknesses this past year were ineffective LBers and run defense.

It's sure hard to make the case that he's worth the money.

Add a shit-ton of snaps the last few seasons and a back problem, and it's impossible to make the case, IMO.

Also IMO, part of the reason the run defense sucked was because teams realized they didn't need to double Poe - a single blocker was enough, depending on the interior linemen in question.

In other words, he wasn't eating shit. Certainly not double-teams.

We probably got the best of him.

That way no team will get cute with some Poison Pill type contract either because the 2 first round draft picks is looming in the background.

If it's a fair contract that is just more than the Chiefs are will to pay, then the 2 teams will likely negotiate a trade for less than 2 first rounders. If it's a dick move then the Chiefs can just flip them the bird and demand the full tag trade value.

I don't think there is anyway a team will give up a huge contract and 2 first round picks for any safety. So it will have to be a mutually beneficial agreement for all parties.

If the Chiefs are going to get bentover the negotiation desk by a RG then can you imagine what it going to be like with Berry?

Holy shit!

Is Berry going to be the highest paid secondary player in the league now @15+ million per?

I really want Berry signed, but I'm worried as hell that we're gonna get bent over the barrel here.
