Nice. Immediately better. Build the OL for Mahomes.

NIUhuskies 08-30-2017 12:09 PM

Erving is literally worse than a turnstile. Unless we want Mahomes to get killed this was a bad trade IMO. He's just awful, Browns fans are laughing at us. Come on Veach, spend the money on Haden instead

But folks are going a wee crazy here. A 5th is about right for a swing tackle/backup interior lineman. This isn't the guy that was a 1st rounder when Direkshun foolishly spent months jerking off to him.

He's a below average NFL player with a cheap contract and some versatility. A 5th is fair. This is a nominal asset spent to address the margins of the roster and a position of some need. It's not a heist - it's just a move that you should probably expect of a solid GM.

The jury is still out on him. He's played for two years with the worst coaching in the NFL. A 5th is a steal for what could still be a really good player. There was a reason he was that high of a pick, and that reason hasn't been disproven yet.

He could absolutely suck. But a 5th is a cheap, cheap, cheap price to pay for a guy who could still turn into a starter and good player - at a position of DIRE need for us, as well.

I doubt that the Chiefs could have drafted an offensive lineman with his ceiling in the late 5th.

Hes 2 years removed from the 1st round and despite a ton of opportunity he hasn't improved.

Hes Jonathan Baldwin. His draft status just doesn't matter that much right now. Besides, weren't you on the other side of this conversation with me yesterday?

I'm glad we got him but folks are way overselling him and are way too fired up. I'd bet he's out of football in 2 years. A 5th for that gamble is fine but not world altering.

Donk logic or sour grapes....irrelevant either way. Truth: Good move for Chiefs even he remains a versatile, multi position back up. :)

I think he's started more at center than any other position in the last few years.

Didn't someone wanted him in the draft and was pissed they didn't pick him up.

We're not blowing a bunch of money on him. His cap hits are $1.2M each year.

They are "decent" not "very good" at this point at least in the run game so far this pre-season, what I am watching for once the season starts will be the pass blocking. This must improve if Alex supposedly gets more aggressive downfield this season. Otherwise it will be 'primary' then to check down'.

Jah reid, can you please go to ray farmer's office and bring your playbook?

If we don't sign Haden I still expect Veach to sign a CB after teams cut down their final 53
