Have there been accidents because of the speed of that residential street. That aerial pic doesn't represent topography which is a big factor in visibility through a curve. But I have to admit it doesnt look blind except the construction trucks in front of houses. It will be hard to get more restrictions if there inst a history of accidents.

Where the hell does one get a radar gun? I have a radar but its for shooting arrows through.

This is the proper way to slow them down.

I have no issue with someone doing this. Neighborhood roads are not the place for speeding. This is a reminder that I'm sure is a deterrent for many. And it's way, WAY less annoying than speed bumps would be.

Get some signs man.
When I was a teenager pointing a radar gun at me like you're doing would have got you some donuts cut in your yard in the middle of the night.:D

I have a radar gun and often sit on the curve and gun cars. Most are good. Some are not.

A guy stopped today and told me not to radar him. Was an ass about it. Said he was gong to take the curve at 30 because it was the speed limit. Had a discussion. I was as nice as I could and asked him to just be slower when he was driving through. He was still an ass. Had another resident claim it was harassment

Am I wrong to do this? We have 20 kids in the lots visible and more will be on the way. All lots have houses now.

To add humor-I could be this woman

I am going to the city to talk about options.

its a nice mix of being an ass AND accomplishing nothing
good work

Those dammed neighborhood and homes associations never remember to put a clause in restricting residents from being anal douches. You bought the house with speed limit signs up, you should live with them. If you have a problem with people driving in an unsafe manner you should contact the city, if not tell the neighbors not to allow their kids to play in the street.

And for the radar gun, they should have those restricted from use, by non law enforcement, in the sub division by the next board meeting. Now go close your garage door and turn your required sprinklers on, your grass looks brown.

What are you accomplishing? Maybe you should buy one of those radar signs that show the driver their speed. At least then the driver would have feedback. As it is you are sitting there radaring people doing absolutely nothing.

They set up one of those on my way to work a few years ago. I'd see how fast I could go and then posted a "High Scores" sign on it with the top 3 speeds.

Yep, if you don't get your way in solving a problem that only exists in your mind, escalate the situation and commit a crime.

I love it. I will have to ask my Atty. what the legal ramifications would be for restricting traffic on a public roadway might incur as far as charges go.

I'd bet he would be out in 60 days with a whole new attitude.

bigjosh 09-01-2017 10:49 AM

i would be pissed if some house resident was pointing a radar gun at me. its bad enough the road pirates are pulling that shit all the time. If I saw a resident pointing a radar at me I would probably make it a point to drift that curve every time i went around it. Maybe lay some posi tracks in front of your house a few times a month.

gblowfish 09-01-2017 10:51 AM

We have some really curvy roads here in Independence, like Blue Ridge Blvd. Many of the homeowners have put big blocks of limestone across the front of their yard, or concrete poles in a picket across their property so a car won't come flying into their house. You may need to do the same thing to protect yourself.
