Haven’t seen the contract details yet but I get the sense that they plan on HB being there for all three years. They love the guy.

Would be stupid. Waste a draft pick and then give him a big contract extension. He's decent, but he's not worth a draft pick. Especially when we could have just kept Ford or Houston.

No. Houston 21 mil. He could not be kept. Ford ruined the season and can't stop the run.

Houston would have technically only cost $14M to keep. They're eating $7M with or without him.

But it's still only three years. But i wasn't just talking about honey Badger. I'm talking about Watkins, Okafor, Hitchens, Damien williams, ldt, fisher.... That's eating up a ton of our payroll. That helps free up a lot of money... If needed in the future.

The other thing we have is... Mahomes will get a very backloaded contract because the Chiefs have no issue going all in. That means they'll have some front end relief. Once we officially enter the mahomes era, we can do a lot more cap dodging we don't want to do today. Restructuring, contract back loading, etc... Stuff that's stupid to do unless you have a prime window. I wouldnt do that now. But once mahomes signs, game on.

Way way overrated.

His cap hit was 21 mil.

I agree with others here who say dont trade for him. He isnt worth the price he will cost. Better off rolling w the young guys and seeing what happens.

And it is still $7 million with him gone. So keeping him would only be $14 million more against the cap as it currently sits. You must keep an eye on the big picture when it comes to the cap.

I also agree with NOT trading for Clowney.

Right, but the net cap savings by releasing him is only $14M. There's $7M on the books whether he's here or not.
