From the Baltimore Sun:

“Please don’t play the Chiefs in the postseason”

If we are #3... the Chiefs odds of winning it all go down significantly.

We are the outlier. Quit being a pussy.

I thought it had happened several times in the last 20 years.

That.

How many 3 seeds are 12-4? Or have a Mahomes? And are pretty damn good everywhere else? Just not common

staylor26 12-28-2019 12:29 PM

It’s just so ****ing shitty.

The Pats and Ravens finishing ahead of us despite us going 12-4 and beating both teams. We of course lost a game that we had complete control of and no business losing.

If we’re the 1 or 2 seed I honestly think we win the SB fairly easy.

As a 3 seed, I’d probably give us a 40% chance, which is still very high for a 3rd seed, but still worse than 50/50.

The best part?

He’s terrified of KC and doesn’t even seem cognizant of how much the defense has improved.

Ya toast, Ravens. Just wait.

Pretty honest assessment actually. Mahomes is completing 66% of his passes, the same as last year. The offense has had a lot of injuries, from the QB, OLine and even Reek missing games. But now they are healthy. They will be a handful to stop. If they play 2 Safeties deep to keep from getting burned- Kelce will gut them in the middle of the field all day. If they blitz- our RB's strength is catching screens and getting yards after the catch.

This offense is flying way under the radar right now, which is a good position to be in. Ravens have better stats, but the Chiefs have a more high-powered and fluid passing attack.

Exactly... the difference between a 2 and 3+ seed isn't "if only they were a 2 seed, they'd have a much easier road due to home field or the week off, etc.". It's just there aren't many 3+ seeds worth a shit.

Out of the 12-win WCs in recent years...

2018 Bears - lost at home in the WC round.
2018 Texans - lost at home in the WC round.

2017 Raiders - got handled @Texans in the WC round.

2015 Bengals - lost at home in the WC round.

2014 Cowboys - could be the one case in the past 5 years where you can say being a WC team hurt a team, as maybe they beat the Packers at home in the 2nd round.

There is no easy road to being a true Champion.

Unless you are the cheating Patriots, with the easiest schedule in the NFL and "scouts" out filming sidelines.

Chiefs will be going into the playoffs on a 6 game winning streak and can beat anyone.

The bigger issue imo is just the added game.

A key injury could derail the whole thing and the odds of it happening only increase woth another game.

Plus having to go into Baltimore and New England just make it damn tough

Yea I said the same thing yesterday. I have no doubt we will beat the Titans, but we’ll be lucky to make it out of that game healthy.

Shit, we have to worry about tomorrow too.

Teams that sit guys for a few weeks could get a rash of injuries as well.

There is nothing to fear but fear itself.

In the end, it's about moving away from the loser/puncher's chance mentality, where they need to make the most of any playoff berth and hoping they're lucky enough to win a couple games, because who the hell know when they'll be back..... to knowing they have a great chance to be in a similar position for years to come, so most years aren't all-or-nothing.

There's much less fear involved.

Hammock Parties 12-28-2019 01:45 PM

Holy shit. Didn't realize this.

Quote:

Ravens cornerback Marlon Humphrey has had an excellent season, but there have been occasional mental lapses in his game, and even more with cornerback Marcus Peters. Cornerbacks Jimmy Smith and Brandon Carr both look a step slow, and while safety Earl Thomas III has played well against the run, the Ravens have gotten very little support over the top against the pass, except when Chuck Clark is playing on the backend.
