Of course an all time list isn’t going to include a player with 2 real years of playing time. For me, it’s simple. Would I trade Mahomes today for a defensive back who was garunteed to have Rod Woodson’s career?
Nope. And you wouldn’t either. These dumb lists can say whatever they’d like. |
I wonder how loud Rod Woodson is when he is cumming???
|
Woodson was the best DB in the league most of his long career, his 11 pro bowls prove that, He is the only player drafted in round one of the 87 draft in the HOF. He was ranked number 41 as the greatest player ever. He was a defensive player of the year in 93.
His numbers dwarfs the great Deion Sanders, example....solo tackles 530 to 258. Here we have the greatest DB in NFL history. Yep...THE GOAT |

This is from a different site asking the same question.
10. Rod Woodson, CB/KR, Purdue 1987 Draft, Round 1 – Pittsburgh Steelers Woodson held out in contract negotiations until late October of the 1987 season. On Nov. 22, he showed Steelers’ fans that he was worth the wait, snagging his first interception and returning it 45 yards for a touchdown. It was the first of the Hall of Famer’s NFL-record 12 interceptions returned for touchdowns over his 17-year career. Along the way, he won a Super Bowl ring as part of the Baltimore Ravens’ legendary 2000 defense. |

Today, Woodson is the best #10 pick since the merger. In 5 years it will likely be Mahomes. Don't get me wrong, Mahomes is fantastic and the best QB right now in the NFL. However, his greatness must be written before he can take the place of an all time great. 3 years isn't long enough for that to happen. |
Only a total fool would compare a two season career to a 17 year career. YES YES YES....Mahomes is great but don't get ridiculous because you are a Chiefs fan. Rod Woodson was great for a lot longer than....two....two...seasons.

I agree that Mahomes hasn't been playing nearly long enough to be in any GOAT conversations, but there isn't a single player in NFL history, in their prime, that I would trade Mahomes for straight up. Especially not a DB.
|
I think the list is garbage overall. They have Ladainian Tomlinsion ranked best ever at 5 above Deion Sanders. I like Ladainian, I think he is great, but I take Deion every time given that choice. The list is dumb.

Mahomes never held out in a contract dispute so he is automatically the greatest #10 pick. And Johnny Unitas won a Super Bowl. I will not let that injustice lie undisturbed (even if he didn't finish the game). |

Looking through the list, it makes one realize how rare the true superstars are. There are a lot of very good players on this list, but they're certainly not all what I would call "great". |
