Honey Badger may be a cap liability

another source of our problems, paying roughly 25% or more of the salary cap to a DL that made a couple of plays early and did nothing the rest of the game. That salary commitment prevents spending elsewhere.

They're going to have to do something with Clark this offseason to get his cap hit down. If they don't, they'll be forced to cut him after the season because that's where his out is.

I trust Veach to manage the cap.

Nope.

They'll re-do his deal to give him more guaranteed money and free up cap space.

He's. Not. Going. Anywhere.

I sure hope not. The o line worries me tho. Allegretti is about the only 100% starter coming back next year. Fisher or Schwartz one will be cut

Yeah, after the way things played out tonight, I don't think he wants to go anywhere else. I bet he feels responsible for the loss, and will need to correct it, because he is the type of player that feels this loss in his soul.

We wouldn't have scored against the 49ers with this Oline...

Wylie is a restricted free agent. Unless some team gets stupid with an offer, he'll be back to finish his contract. LDT is obviously under contract.

But yeah, the line is a concern with Reiter being a free agent and not really knowing what will happen with Fisher or Schwartz. If Schwartz retires and they can reach an injury settlement that will help.

The real kicker is Fisher. He's in the last year of his contract. There's no way to get cap relief by restructuring his deal unless you do it BEFORE you know if he's going to be back to full health. I think if I were in charge, I'd cut him loose but I'm not an NFL GM and I get the impression the Chiefs are going to give him every chance to come back. Which means they'll be stuck with his $12M cap number.

If it is one or the other, I guess you go with who ever is the most healthy. With their injuries and ages, there is no guarantee either will every be who we thought they were at the beginning of the season.

This. He's our PMII in the secondary.

I can't figure out why we try to throw Hardman the ball. Give him all the jet sweeps and little pitches you want, but he's not a good WR.

It just seems like he and Pat are never on the same page. I think it was our first possession tonight. He had a sure TD if he just keeps running. Instead he slows down for no apparent reason and the ball sails over his head. I could sense some frustration from Mahomes right away. Like you said, with his speed there's definitely a place for him in this offense. We just need another wide receiver who can get open and move the chains.

He has no idea how to adjust his routes or how to hot route when the defense is giving a certain look. There was that play early in the game where Mahomes read the blitz and threw a rocket to him along the sideline and Mecole had no idea it was coming. He just kept running the route that was drawn up.

It's one thing to have miscommunication problems here and there or to read coverages differently sometimes but it happens to Mecole wayyy too ****ing much for me to think he'll ever be a competent WR in this offense. He's a gadget player who hopefully can have a big play or two every couple of weeks. You have to manufacture his touches because he doesn't get open naturally which makes me appreciate the technical aspects of being a good WR. You'd think with his speed he'd be able to blow by everyone, but nope.

We got really lucky with how the Hill shit worked out because we'd be ****ed if we were counting on Hardman to replace him.

I disagree. OL needs to be the focus for the first two picks.
